Pagespeed > Make Fewer HTTP Requests (GTmetrix)

My NewsPaper site is rocking, and I’m now doing some final post-launch tweaks, including optimizing page speed.

So – Yet another Pagespeed question.

Sorry, I’ve searched in the forums and not found an answer to this particular question, so here goes…

So, I’m trying to get my YSlow score up in GTmetrix, and it’s instructing me to combine Javascript scripts and external stylesheets. How the heck do you do that?

Here’s the exact verbiage from the report for “Make fewer HTTP requests”…

“Make fewer HTTP requests F (0)41% Content High What does this mean?
This page has 21 external Javascript scripts. Try combining them into one. This page has 17 external stylesheets. Try combining them into one.”

OK, Great. So how does one go about “combining them into one?” For a non-technical guy like me, is there a ‘dummies’ version of how to do that? How the heck do you combine these files, where are they, what are they? Or can you even do what YSlow is suggesting?

Any help or guidance would be gratefully accepted. Thanks!

Well, you cant combine scripts loading from external websites, so obviously the trick is use fewer things that load external from your local website.
