I searched to see if anyone else recorded this problem but did not see it, so sorry if this is a duplicate.
Since installing WordPress 4.9, the image captions are not being controlled/restricted to the Medium (300 pixels wide) size that our photos are.
Going forward we are using the Full size image and the photo captions are not looking bad, but this is a big problem for the 11,000 articles we have published in the last 9 years.
Is there a Theme PHP fix that can be made, or some automated process we can use – or do we need to start going back manually entering line breaks to make sure the captions wrap?
Hello,
Please update your theme to the latest version (8.2) by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
And then test the captions again. If you still have problems with them, let us know and provide a link to your site so we can investigate.
Thank you!
Hi,
We are on Newspaper Version 7.3 and have been concerned about the update process, because of the time required to reset all the Theme modifications.
Now we will try this on Saturday, as it will take a day to set up the site first on Dev and then our Live site.
Thank you for the response, and hopefully it will work!
Thanks
Hi Bogdan,
We updated the Theme to version 8.2 to our Dev/test site, and it fixed the problem of the photo captions, so that is good.
Unfortunately as we started to work on updating things in our Theme panel, nothing is saving. All we get is a ‘spinning progress wheel’ – but it never finishes.
We actually noticed this in the old version as well, and hoped the update would fix it.
Please help asap!
Thanks
Hello,
This is not a theme related issue if you cannot save settings in the theme panel. It is a server configuration or security plugin on your end. No theme update can fix that. Please check your htaccess, security plugins, host optimization tools, etc.
Thank you!
Hi – yes it is the same issue a lot of other people are having. Alin wrote back and confirmed it was a “403 Forbidden error on admin-ajax.php”. When I first installed the Theme last year it was working fine, there must be some new server set-up that is not agreeing with your Admin page. Hoping my hosting can accommodate now…
