I have a popular posts block on my homepage. When I click on the NEXT button, it just loads the same three popular posts.

You can see here: https://www.InterestingAnswers.com

Any ideas?

Hi,

I believe you use the Jetpack popular sorting, that means the the plugin will filter and display the resulting posts, everything is done through the Jetpack plugin. But it should work properly.

What happens if you increase the number of posts in the block settings? Do other posts appear?

Thanks for the response. Yes, I am using Jetpack for this. It’s the only reasons I have Jetpack installed. Everything else is disabled.

I changed the popular post number from 3 to 6 and it doesn’t even load the animation like its trying to load more posts. The next button works fine for other blocks.

I made a video you can watch here if you’d like.

If I change the pagination to LOAD MORE, the loads the same 3 posts.

Seems I failed to remember a critical thing here. Once the Jetpack sort order is activated, all other settings of the filter tab including pagination will not work

Best you disable the block pagination since it will not work, it will be useless. The Jetpack plugin will affect any other filter setting when this sorting is used. The block will display posts sorted thorough Jetpack, but block pagination will be useless.

Oh. I see. I didn’t know what pagination it was referring to. That makes perfect sense now though.

The other one that says, “enable in panel.” Where in the panel is it referring to?

If you were doing this, which of these 2 would you use?

Good day sir.

Those other popular sorting methods (all time popular and 7 days popular) are provided by the theme. They will work with the other block settings and pagination.

The all time popular simply needs to be selected and it will start working. Post views need to be active so the most popular posts can be displayed

The 7 days popular has a dedicated setting in the theme panel that has to be active
https://forum.tagdiv.com/7-days-post-sorting/
Post views also have to be active. Once the sorting is activated, the count will begin. As posts gather views they will show up in the block, grid etc. that uses this sorting.

One thing to mention is that this 7 days sort may not work properly or at all when a caching plugin is used.

Thanks.

Are there any plans to have a solution that works alongside caching plugins that don’t require JetPack? It’s the only reason I have JetPack installed.

Thanks.

You could still use the Jetpack sorting, just remove the pagination. It should display accurate results.
Or use the all time popular, that will display the posts with most views. It is only the 7 day sorting that has a problem with caching.

I can’t say if there will be modifications made to these sorting methods or if new ones will be implemented. Could be a possibility in the future.

Ok. Are there any plans to get it working with paginationn? Or is the problem on their end? That way I can submit a ticket with them.

Thanks

There aren’t any plans for it that I know of. It has always been like this. When the block/grid uses Jetpack sorting the other settings will not work. The jetpack plugin provides the post results, not the theme.

So basically it is like this, either try the other popular sorting methods provided by the theme and have pagination, or use the jetpack sorting and display the number of posts that you want.
Limit the block to 3 or 6 or more, the post will change according to the popularity. That would be the purpose, display top popular posts.
