I added a post using the video format. It posted well and when shared to Facebook it displayed the video image but this video image did not display on the Home Page post.
1. Is this standard-not to display?
2. Any way to add an image so that it displays on the Home Page?

1) In order to have the proper featured image grabbed from the video you will have to use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
Set the template to video, add a video url from youtube and the theme will automaticalyy grab the thumb.
2) If you want to place a simple image on the homepage and not a block, you can either use the single image element or the image box element

Yes the media library is the default wordpress media implementation. The add media will take you to the media library: https://codex.wordpress.org/Media_Library_Screen
