Hi
I recently installed and customised a Cloud Template (Single Post Template 2) for one particular post category on our news site that uses the AJAX method to count posts. Counting works on all other pages, but the Post View counter is not updating on the category that uses the new template.
If I look at the custom fields for a sample recent post that is not updating I see this:
post_view_7days_last_day 4
post_views_count 1
post_views_count_7_day_last_date 1645177000
post_views_count_7_day_total 73
post_views_last_24_hours 16
post_views_last_48_hours 72
I am running Newspaper 11.4.1 and have tried both the “Theme Post Views” and and “-WP-PostViews Plugin-” for the source and have tried adding a new Single Post Views element to the page. But nothing makes any difference.
Do you ave any suggestions?
Thanks
Chris

hi-hub. Reason: typo
Yes. This is likely the “Ajax view count”.
Newspaper -> Theme Panel -> Post Settings -> Ajax view count
Toggle on / off.
I have tried turning “Ajax view count” off and and on. When off the counter (Set to “Theme Post Views”) increases on a non cached view of the page, but not on a cached view of the page. When I turn “Ajax view count” back on again the counter stops increasing again, but still works on all the other post categories on the site.
Hello,
First of all, please make sure the issue is not from a plugin conflict or a cache issue, that’s why, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a cache plugin, deactivate it, clear all cache (also from your browser) and try again.
I don’t understand where the view count is not updated, in the post or in the category template on the block the filter is not applied?
Also, for Single Post Template, you need to have the Single Post View added in the post, and ajax view count enabled.
Also, to sort the block for Popular (24h,48h and 7days) you need to have this option enable https://i.imgur.com/grI3bti.png
Thank you!
I tried turning off the cache and clearing the cache and disabling plug-ins. It did not change the lack of counting
The popular post sorting is turned on and is working with posts from this category but the Page View Counter that you see at the top of the page with the little eye symbol is not incrementing on the posts.
In the end I tried recreating the template for the category again and now the counting is working again. So I am not sure what happened but it is working now.
The site is http://www.hihub.info and the category with the issue is “News in Brief” such as https://www.hihub.info/news-in-brief/night-closures-on-butt-lane-milton/
Thanks
Chris
Hello,
Please check if you have an object cache file stored on your server.
We have a guide on how to check the Object Cache if is applied on Backend -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/general-options-may-interfere-newspaper-theme/
If the problem is not solved after this, we can take a look at this and investigate why is not working for you. Contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide the following:
–wp-admin URL/ cPanel/FTP and credentials
– a link to this topic to identify you
Thank you!
Hi Anamaria
I have checked the wp-content directory as you suggested and there is no object-cache.php file there. So I will pass it on via contact@tagdiv.com
