1) When a new user wants to register for the website using the modal login form, the form is not responding. The user enters a valid email address and a user name (different from the email address), but the form keeps saying “Waiting” —> https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/23419588?key=9456265b81a9c2fdf5eb1902546b26c5 … and a user is never registered in the backend. What’s wrong?
2) Is there a way to influence the behaviour of what is happening after a user clicks “Sign up”? For example, I want to send a customized email to newly registered users and then verify each user manually. Is this possible or do I need an extra plugin for this? If yes, do you recommend such a plugin?

It seems that the URL is not working and you have an error to your console. Please make sure it is not from a plugin conflict or anything else which can interfere in that process: https://forum.tagdiv.com/general-options-may-interfere-newspaper-theme/
Please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a cache plugin, deactivate it, and see the results.
You should modify the code to change the link as in the topic my colleague send it to you above. Unfortunately, we do not have any tested plugin in order to achieve what you need there.
