Dear team,
Can you tell me what it would cost to create a widget for Newspaper:
Removing a blog article results in leftovers of various image sizes of the main image.
They are scattered over file locations in /httpdocs/wpcontent/uploads/YYYY
I am looking for a widget that checks the images of non-existing newsarticles and remove them from these directories.
Example:
I have removed a blog article with image afblg.jpg as the main blog image
Newsletter created (depending on the template to be used) a scala of variations of this image:
afblg.jpg
afblg-150×150.jpg
afblg-218×150.jpg
afblg-265×198.jpg
afblg-300×300.jpg
afblg-324×400.jpg
afblg-356×220.jpg
afblg-485×360.jpg
afblg-545×486.jpg
afblg-80×60.jpg
All these images should be removed from /httpdocs/wpcontent/uploads/YYYY/* after the referring blog article is deleted from the Worpress trashcan.
It would be great if users can contribute Newspaper widgets themselves to provide it to the Newspaper community.
Perhaps that may be a very good idea for the new year 2026!
Best regards,
DD

Hi,
Normally, you can use a plugin that will delete the thumbs of images that are no longer in use. The plugin is Force Regenerate Thumbnails https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/
Hi,
Ok, first make sure that in the theme panel > thumb section https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/ you have enabled only teh thumbs you are using. Enabling extra thumbs will only generate that thumb size and will not be used.
Another plugin to try is Media Cleaner.
Thank you!
Hi,
Unfortunately, I’m not aware of the exact total cost. What I can tell you is that the hourly rate is $50, and I believe it will take at least 4 hours, but probably no more than 8 hours.
However, this is just my estimate. Only the custom work team, after consulting with a developer, can give you the final price.
Hi,
Unfortunately, I do not have answers for this question. If you want, please make a request for custom work. You can do this by emailing services@tagdiv.com, and the team there will provide you with all the details you need.
Thank you for your understanding!
