Renaming / editing custom taxonomy or custom post types for url slugs

Hello

I finally kind of figured out how the taxonomy for the directories works, but I am running into an issue naming/renaming/editing the name of the template that determines the slug.

I tried both a Tagdiv prebuilt taxonomy and a custom post type (both from the cloud library. They work fine, but I cant change the name.

I even tried the renaming option at the top of the TagDiv composer:

cpt Blank – Custom Post Type EDIT TITLE
CREATE MOBILE TEMPLATE

When I click Edit the window, a pop up appears where I can rename it, but I get this message:

Invalid template type! Please make sure your are editing a supported template type title.

This happens whether I select edit title or create for both the custom taxonomy and the custom post type.

Below are links to the site that show the url based on the template. I would like to change them to align with the site- it looks a little weird to have a fishing site with a doctors pro 3 slug/url.

I am not a coder or programmer, so I am hoping there is a way to do this without editing code.

Hoping you can provide guidance.

Current Urls:
https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/tdb_templates/custom-taxonomy-doctors-pro-3/
https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/tdb_templates/blank-custom-post-type/

preferred urls:
https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/boatandguidedirectory
https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/fishingreportdirectory

Hello
This link does not help my problem.
I already have the slug of the custom post created as directed from the link you sent (4. If You Have Already Created a Custom Post Type (CPT) Using register_post_type Function – https://www.scratchcode.io/how-to-change-custom-post-type-slug-in-wordpress/)

My problem is i am using the cloud template for the custom taxonomy in one case (https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/tdb_templates/custom-taxonomy-doctors-pro-3/) and the cloud template for the custom post type in another (https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/tdb_templates/blank-custom-post-type/) but I cannot edit the bold italic part of the these links,

example: i used a regular template for https://theledger.whatchacatchin.com/podcasts-directory/ and I was able to edit the the page title from what the original title was to podcast directory from the tagdiv composer at the top of the composer above where it says Welcome to tagdiv composer. When i try to do the same using the cloud template for /tdb_templates/blank-custom-post-type/ and /custom-taxonomy-doctors-pro-3/ it does not let me. it gives this message: Invalid template type! Please make sure your are editing a supported template type title.

How can I edit this?

Hi,

The name of the cloud template should not be displayed in the URL when you display a CPT that uses that template.

Thank you!

Hi Ana,
I agree, but it does.

These are the links I am sending you to demonstrate the template names are showing up( tdb_templates/custom-taxonomy-doctors-pro-3/ and /tdb_templates/blank-custom-post-type/)

I created the page, loaded the template, assigned the specific post type, save(from tag div composer, and click view. When it loads on the front end it uses the name of the templates instead of the post type or taxonomy.

When i try to do the same using the cloud template for /tdb_templates/blank-custom-post-type/ and /custom-taxonomy-doctors-pro-3/ it does not let me. it gives this message: Invalid template type! Please make sure your are editing a supported template type title.
I would add screen grabs but there is nowhere to attach files.

This is what I am trying to fix.

Any guidance on how to fix?

Hello @fishinfool !

I can rename a blank template as I want in the Cloud templates -> CPT.
Check the console to see if you encounter any error there.
Please update the theme and plugins to the latest version.

Thank you!
