Hi,
When Google crawls our site, review ratings are displayed as ‘Rating: 4 · 1 vote’ as pictured here: https://imgur.com/a/6d8GJci
What would we need to change for the ‘1 vote’ to be replaced with the author name, i.e. ‘Rating: 4 · Review by John Doe’
On a similar note, Google’s crawler also issues two warnings for crawled review pages:
Missing field “review” (optional)
Missing field “offers” (optional)
Neither of the above are considered critical, but it would be helpful if these were actioned in the next Newspaper release.
Thank you.
Hi,
Those warnings: Missing field “review” (optional) and Missing field “offers” (optional) are on our list, unfortunately, because they are optional, the request is set with a low priority tag.
Both mentioned requests can be done only if the theme files are changed. I you want I can make same investigations and maybe I can find the right changes that need to be done.
Thank you!
Hi c386,
For the moment we can provide only some guide:

Thank you for your understanding!
I have had the same problem for many months. If we vote for articles, Google reports a problem to us. We have over 500 pages with these errors in the Search Console. The error is generated by your theme. I don’t understand why you don’t solve it. Having these errors on the Search Console leads to a low ranking evaluation.
Hi Calin,
I agree that Google reports this as a warning but in my experience the Google warning is the same as saying: I warn you to fix it but if you don’t I penalize you. Now, it is quite known that this problem (because it is a problem and not a warning) has had thousands of users who have reported as a result a decline in Google’s authority and therefore a strong loss of positions in the SERP.
I strongly believe that this problem needs to be solved since it is generated by your thema which includes Woocommerce. I am convinced that with your update it is possible to solve the problem. I repeat: Google reports it as a warning but then penalizes you. And I’m 100% sure of that.
Hi Alex, those warnings are on our list to be treed, but, our theme do not include the woocommerce and it is only compatible with it, therefore, I can not say if those will be in the coming update or not, normally since the offers and review are created only when the woocommerce is used should be fixed in the plugin.
After a search on google I found more topics about this and those do not include our theme https://wordpress.org/support/topic/either-offers-review-or-aggregaterating-should-be-specified-error-5/
All that we can do is to note them on the request and bug lists and our developers are those how decide how and when will be fixed/implemented.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hello Calin,
Thanks for getting back to me.
This is a shame as it’s a big part of why I’m using this theme, in fact, I actually purchased this theme as the sales page says the following:
This bestseller theme is perfect for blogging and excellent for an e-commerce, shop, store, WooCommerce, news, newspaper, magazine, publishing or review site.
Let’s be real, you cant run a review site on the newspaper theme when the schema doesn’t work and I’m getting a ton of errors in the search console, this is false advertising and should be removed from the sales page.
I can’t imagine this would take long to fix either.
I think this should be pushed to the developers and needs to be fixed ASAP. It’s very unprofessional that the developers are aware of this problem and have been for a long time but refuse to fix it.
Thanks.
Hi Calin,
Actually your apologies are too diplomatic. Here we all pay money for the Newspaper theme and its assistance.
I run a Cinema magazine with my site, so I don’t give a damn about Woocommerce and I use the stars only to judge the film (actually my editors do it).
Now, there are warnings in Goggle Serach Console that have become problems over time. Yes, because Google warns you but if you don’t solve the problem your “Autory” is lowered and consequently all your keywords and search words. If I scan a page where the stars have been inserted, Google tells me: “The page is indexed but it has problems”. Now, if Google says this pagian has a problem it’s basically telling me. “Solve the problem or you will be penalized”. Having said that, I find it disrespectful to all of us to treat this speech superficially. I don’t use the Woocommerce plugin but only the one integrated into your theme, so it’s your job to fix the huge problem. It is useless for me to post links from people who have not solved the problem but propose some magic formula. The problem is generated by your theme so you have to solve it. Not tomorrow, not in a week or a year but now!
Hi Alex,
I totally agree with everything you are saying, I can’t believe that they are refusing to fix a KNOWN problem, a problem that has been known for a very long time!
Clearly, they do not care about their existing customers anymore, they are FALSE advertising, how can we use something that is BROKEN!
I’ll be writing a report on a public forum for everyone to see how they treat existing customers, I’ll forward you the link soon.
This needs to be fixed ASAP.
There is a new problem in Google’s “Search Console”. Missing “aggregate Rating” field—> https://ibb.co/JjFhPkZ
A few months ago there was the same problem with “offers” and “review” and you have solved it with an update. After your update I started validation and the problem was solved. Now there is a need for “your” new update to the “missing aggregate Rating field” theme. Do you think you will be able to solve it in a short time? These issues negatively affect the Google SERP.
Thanks Anamaria. When will the new version of the “Aggregate Rating” missing field bug fix be released? It’s very important to fix the problem as soon as possible. Visits have been dropping dramatically since Google listed it as an error in the Search Console.
