Since the Update in May the cumulative layout shift caused by the newspaper theme is a serious problem because all my sites for desktop and mobile are marked as poor in the Google Search Console. I get different informations what is causing the cumulative layout shift when the elements are showing up in the viewport:
– missing container for the header-logo-image (desktop)
– div#td-top-mobile-toggle>i.td-icon-font>::before (mobile)
– <p style=”text-align: justify;”> (div.td-container>article#post-35>div.td-post-content>p (mobile)
– all font-awesome icons (flash because of unstyled content) (mobile, desktop)
and so on. The cumulative layout shift is part of the web core vitals introduced by Google with the last update. If a site fails the web vitals its very critical for the ranking in the google search. I don’t know what I should do anymore – it’s not possible to decrease the cumulative layout shift because the main issues are to find in the layout itself. Maybe you can offer some help.
Greetings Kathrin

Thank you for your understanding!
So, the problems are really serious. My rankings collapsed because of bad LCP, lost 80% of my traffic, struggling to resolve, already moved to premium webhoster at premium cost, no solution. I don´t understand this is not a bigger issue with all your clients…
I lost confidence in this template, maybe should change to something simular from your portfolio.? Do you have something equal, as powerful, but without this LCP issue ? Can we resolve this ?

Hi,
the LCP are part of the core web vitals which are not a ranking factor yet. Google wrote in May2020 “Today, we’re building on this work and providing an early look at an upcoming Search ranking change that incorporates these page experience metrics. The ranking changes described in this post will not happen before next year, and we will provide at least six months notice before they’re rolled out.” See: https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2020/05/evaluating-page-experience.html
Besides a drop of 80% can hardly be caused by one single ux factor. Maybe share your domain so somebody can have a look at the issue.
