Hi,
I want to know why does the theme contain very limited shortcodes. Every theme comes with lot’s of basic shortcodes (message box, icons, list, accordion, progress bars etc). Do we have to use VC shortcodes such as button, message box, accordion etc ?. Are you planning to come up with your own shortcodes ?. Please clarify, with this I will get to know if i should wait or start using VC shortcodes.

Our theme is based on the VC shortcodes. You will have to use visual composer to add such elements, but only for pages. We do not recommend using visual composer on posts. On posts you can use the mce editor to create your post content.

That’s a strange answer. How about using a button, message/alert box inside a post ?. If i want a user to provide a download link inside my post what should i use ?. If I want to add a accordion or any other shortcode inside post then what should i use ?
It would be great if you add essential shortcodes in mce editor.

Why should i not use vc shortcodes in my posts ?. For example can’t i use a VC message box in my post to provide a specific info. Just confused with your reply 🙂

okay i read that link and it says “Visual Composer is working only on Pages and will help you to create amazing and unique layouts“. Now i am confused what shortcodes should i use in my posts. On several posts i have the requirement to create a message box, accordion, icon box etc. But you are saying vc shortcodes should be used only in pages.
If you are required to add these elements on posts, then you can try to use visual composer on psots. it is just not recommended. Posts were never meant to have complex elements such as accordions and tabs, but if this is a must, you can try to use it but just keep in mind that some elements could not work as we only tested it on pages. By default our theme does not provide accordions and tabs on posts. We only recommend using the shortcodes and formats I exemplified above. There is no recommended way of adding those elements you want on posts but no one is restricting you into giving it a shot with visual composer elements. Just keep in mind that this is not a tested and recommended implementation so if something goes wrong, you should replace the element as we have not tested it and cannot provide implementation methods for blocks that will not work properly on posts.

Hi, I purchased your theme yesterday, I have been hunting around for this info since then having not realised I now have a shortcode migration issue. Apparently this is not uncommon and some themes now offer a migration script for shortcodes (apparently not yours).
I use tabs on my post pages (as seen here) now which is nice as it keeps everything above the fold (multimag theme) and makes the user experience a lot nicer than having long or paginated posts. What I REALLY want (for some time now) is a post template that ‘pre’ sets my post page format to include the tabs so that other writers don’t need to be stuffing around with page setups. Keeping a consistent look and feel is extremely important to the reader.
I will try enabling Visual composer on posts in my dev site to see if that works. So far though, it looks like I’m going to have the daunting task of updating each page manually, or pay someone to write a script, but have no idea where I’d even go for that.
I mention all this because there is clearly a market for migrating shortcodes and it seems the tagdiv team are not as advanced in this area as others. Maybe you can integrate something into your new Visual Composer replacement that handles this.
So the good news is that with a bit of work, I have now in Visual Composer a nice Post Page template, the way I want it, in dev (obviously bits of the site will be broken etc. You can see it at the link below.
Visual Composer list the front end editor as a major feature, but the terminology is highly confusing and I don’t think a front end editor is the same as editing a post with their editor. There are also custom post types referred to, which seem to be all preset, but I’m not sure.
The main concern I have, is doing it like this I don’t know where the data is stored and therefore what other things might break, what sort of design challenges this brings. I understand I have Visual Composer Support through this forum so could someone please ask the question, what is the recommended way to utilise post type templates with Visual Composer?

Sorry marshalleq but our theme does not have any shortcode migration as there are lots of different shortcodes from all the custom page builders out there and it is very hard to identify which one is which. All of the elements are custom made and in some cases there are no alternatives to some custom elements.
Visual composer is not tested on posts in our theme. It works if you activate it but you could get mixed results so be careful when using it. Our theme already provides 14 post templates to choose from. If you want a custom one you can add it through coding so you do not have to add the visual composer elements on each post in particular. https://forum.tagdiv.com/api-single-template-introduction/
