Hi – I’ve just updated to the latest version of Newspaper, but have noticed a considerable slowing of the site. Woocommerce product pages seem to be the worst impacted, taking some 30 seconds to load. They used to load in 3-4 seconds.
Example page:

Could you let me know what could be causing the sudden slowdown. I had no problems with the theme before the update.
Yes, it goes back to normal. The problem started once I update from 12.5.1 to 12.6, or above. I have tried every time a new update gets released, but same thing happens. As i use Optin Builder, I really need the latest versions of Newspaper to work.
I’ve tried just about everything, deactivating plugins, cache, etc, but cannot see what the error is.
The site has been up and down all day here (i’m in Australia).
Unfortunately, I’ve had to revert to the 12.5.1 theme (again). All the newer versions seem to make the site unusable. Not good for a production site.
Product pages now load in under 2 seconds again.
Strangely, the new version of the theme works fine on our staging site.
Do you have any plans to make the new versions of Optin Builder compatible with 12.5.1?
I have had to downgrade that plugin as well as the latest version of Optin Builder doesn’t seem to work with 12.5.1.
Hello @robbyyy!
We’ve tested the latest version of the theme, and there shouldn’t be any issues. Please deactivate all the extra plugins before updating, as well as the cache plugins that you use.
Unfortunately, no. You should have the latest update of the theme and plugins too.
Thank you!
I have now installed the latest version of both Newspaper and Optin Builder on a staging site (as it was knocking the live site over).
Could I send you the URL and password to access the staging site? I don’t want to post the details on a public forum.
As you will be able to see the Woocommerce product pages have slowed to a crawl. I cannot tell what is causing it. I don’t see any conflicts. Neither does my hosting company (Cloudways).
I may have a custom project (a new sign-up process) for TagDiv once I know I can update the theme. I have already been quoted for the work, but am reluctant to undertake this if I have to move theme.
