Hello
I love the theme and run it on a low traffic site – I also have a very high traffic (50k uniques/mo) UK site which I’d love to move to Newspaper 6 – can anyone recommend the best and safest way to do this?
One issue I think is that I don’t use tags on my current site, and only two categories – would I need to re-tag or re-catgeorise my posts in order to get them into the various ‘blocks’ etc on Newspaper.
I have 900+ posts and 170 pages – which I can cull by 30% or so prior to a move but just how much work will it take? Obviously I can’t use demo site data as I did when I started my low traffic site from scratch.
Any tips would be great because I’d love it to be on Newspaper 6

Hi,
You can just install the theme there and start configure it with the existing content you have now. We don’t have a specific guide on how to change themes but you can use our installation guide here: http://screencast.com/t/KgyZg4IDO – https://forum.tagdiv.com/wordpress-information/
You should also consider into the process at the following aspects:
– backup your current theme/WordPress/database: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
– setup a maintenance mode and you can use a plugin for that.
– empty all caches/purge files if you also use CDN host then disable any services of this type until you switch to the new theme
– disable all plugins
– install the theme then install the required plugins
– switch back the rest of the plugins and start other services
The theme blocks filters are based on categories and tags but you can also use authors filters: http://screencast.com/t/chg98E7KAt But to answer your question, then yes, it would be better to add tags to your posts or organize theme into several categories this would make your theme customization work easier.

Thanks for this answer. I’ve been busy re-categorising 800 posts! 🙂 and hope to soon operate a staging site and make the move to Newspaper6.
It’s important that I run EventOn and Estatik plugins, event calendar and real estate listings, just wondered if you had a view as to if they’re ok with the theme?
plus very importantly – I’m doing well with ad revenue – with sidebar ads, is it a maximum of 5? Or can you simply use the ad widget multiple times? If not will the theme support AdRotate shortcakes in widgets for rotating block ads?

Hi,
1. Unfortunately those plugins haven’t been tested with the theme so I can’t provide an accurate answer on this and the most that I can do is to add them on our todo list for testing but they still need to be review by theme’s developers so it will take some time.
2. This depends on your ads provider, it if you use adsesne for ex you can read their policies here: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/48182?hl=en to see if they allow that usage.
The Adrotate plugin can also be used, we haven’t tested it also but I’ve seen it used by many clients.

Just having final thoughts here – because I’ve sold the ads to clients myself based on my current theme, have used for three years now – westbridgfordwire.com is my site
I use header/a banner below header/banner below content slider/multiple sidebar boxes
Can I emulate this as closely as possible in Newspaper6?
This is my only real concern now because if it’s too different the advertisers may have an issue at this stage

If your’re not suing adsense you can use as many ads as you like or rotate them with adrotate plugin.
This

can be created with newspaper also.

I’ve tested Estatik real estate listings plugin and EventOn event calendar plugin by the way – and from my point of view (with no real tech knowledge) they look perfect and work just fine, no issues yet at all. Thanks for your answer – that re-assures me on the ads.
Will spend more time making a home page and let you know if any other issues. Biggest issue is using the staging site and then having to also create new content on existing site, which will have to be re-posted at some point to the new ‘live’ Newspaper 6 site 🙂

Things have gone quite well replicating ad positions. A few questions as I finish off the move to Newspaper 6;
1. TagDiv ad block – for sidebar does this only have one ad and one widget? The one where you enter code in Theme Panel? I have used multiple Adrotate widgets instead.Can I use multiple instances of your TagDiv ad widget? Different ad code in each?
2. I have property pages – they are custom pages from Estatik plugin. in the shortcode from the plugin
[es_single_property] in generates the single property house or apartment – I need to remove all ads from that page and all like it – remove header ad/sidebar (sidebar which I’ve used a plugin for and removed the sidebar so that’s done) and all other banners – just need a clean page or no other real estate agents will pay to list properties with us. My previous theme had a tick box to remove all ads in WP editor for posts/pages. Is there some custom CSS or other code that I can put in to help with this?
also need all ads removing on ‘All Listings’ – ‘For Rent’ – ‘For Sale’ (accessible from dropdown menu) How can I do this?
3. Style 8 (posts) shows badly on smartphones – the parallax seems to corrupt

Hi,
1. Using Ad Box(block or/and widget) and set sidebar ad, it will display the same ad. If you want to display a different ad you can paste the code in a custom spot from Theme Panel > Ads and set it in Ad Box block.
2. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option to remove ads on specific page/post. This can be done using custom css or alter the code, but the issue on your site is the classes from body are missing and I need it to use a specific class for your single product page(or all products page).
I think that it is a conflict and a plugin remove those classes from the body, please check – http://screencast.com/t/TvG4K9JVSy it should look something like this – http://screencast.com/t/nSWbEOYJP8 Please deactivate all plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and use browser inspector tool(F12 on Chrome) on any of your articles not only product page have this issue and see if they appear, then activate your plugins one by one and see which one cause this issue.

I’ve done that just as you asked:
Deactivated all plugins – cleared all caches
Activated one by one – Result EWWW Image Optimizer causes the class errors (I have left it deactivated but installed) I’m sure I can use an alternative plugin to manage media upload minimise sizes.
Could you look at some CSS for me? Need no ads anywhere at all on ‘All listings’ ‘For rent’ ‘For sale’ and the ‘single listing’ quality

One question…using custom CSS from this forum I have changed the Big Grid article headings to a shadow opacity ‘block’ – but the headline text has shaded too, I need it to be white like before but I can’t find any other posts here that help?
Another post has the CSS I used and the example link has the opacity box but the text remained white. Can you help me with the colour element of the CSS
