Maybe it is a caching issue if the count is not updating. Try clearing any caching installed. The host could have a cache also, you could check if that is the case.
I see that you have an older version of the theme, you should consider updating the theme as well to the latest version

ok so updated the theme, reinstalled the plugin, re-entered social credentials; now the counter is all white / invisible & count for instagram is zero

Please make sure you are using the latest version of the social counter plugin from the latest theme package. The social counter should work properly if this is the case.
You could try to deactivate all your plugins as a test, except Visual composer and the social counter and see if this has any effect.
If the social counter still does not work properly, please sends us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, so we can take a look. Please also paste a link to this topic in the email.

Thanks – have deleted and reinstalled both visual composter and all theme plugins direct from the theme package – social counter is now displaying correctly again, however instagram follower count is now showing 0. I don’t have any cache plugins. Host has cloudfare, have disabled that and rechecked – no change.
