sort custom post type by custom field

I created a custom post type and would like to sort it by a custom field.
I guess I have to change the wp_query, but can’t find it in the template-code.

Is there a way to check if a query is querying posts of a custom post type?

Hello ananas,

Regarding on custom taxonomy you should check the td_util.php core files because there you will find some checks in this case -> https://www.screencast.com/t/05nBRN48rt This is not a simple task and its complex. If you want to make some deeper changes and if you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take in this case, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work.
