Template changes from mobile to desktop and back

Hi,

I am struggling to setup my website by using a mobile page. I do not want to use the mobile plugin, since I find it not very flexible. I managed to figure out how to get a mobile theme, header and footer, but the follwing is happening:

When I edit the mobile page and save, the mobile template is seen on both desktop as mobile.
When I login again and edit the desktop version, the desktop version is seen on both tablet as mobile.
I clear cache every time and also when I am logged in it looks like everything is fine (mobile page on mobile and desktop view on desktop) But when I log out, i get the situation as described. It’s very slowly driving me insane and I would appreciate some insights and directions.

Hello,
If I correctly understand the problem is related to the cache plugin, when this is used the last cache is delivered on both mobile and desktop version. In this situation what needs to be checked is to see if the cache plugin has mobile cache support, for example – https://i.imgur.com/swOb6Qz.png this should help to resolve the problem.
Thank you!

We are months further and the more I work with your theme, the more amazed I am that you guys have really found the most complicated way to create a nice, smooth elegant mobile website. The problem I described still exists. Your image doesn’t show which plugin you use and that should matter. The theme should have its own cache options.

I am not using the mobile plugin because that’s even more horrifying to work with. But GOD please, when I setup a normal frontpage, please make the mobile pagina look the same as the desktop version: stop plying mindgames!!!

Thanks Calin for your reply, you guys probably are doing your best. I’m gonna try one or two days more to get it all setup, alythough I think I am just to simple miinded to grasp your theme….

Hi Teachy,
I will like to help you related to mobile versions that our theme can provide:
The theme has by default a responsive version and this can be checked (and some options from elements/blocks can be adjusted).
Now the theme is also providing a an option to create mobile pages and mobile cloud templates. – https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/
And the last one is the tagDiv Mobile Theme plugin.
Now When the tagDiv Mobile theme plugin is enabled this one will apply. If the plugins is disable and you have a mobile page/template, then that one will be apply.
If none of them is enabled, then the responsive version will be used.
Thank you!

I get all that….and it’s totally correct, with one exception: Keep in mind that the mobile theme plugin is disabled.

I created a mobile home page. I also made changes to the individual blog page. Now when I edit the mobile home page and save my changes….the homepage as on desktop version becomes the homepage on mobile. When I then edit the desktop version and make changes, the mobile homepage becomes te desktop version.

Basically what happens is that the last template I change, becomes the new frontpage for desktop and mobile. Even though I delete all page cache.

In the mood for a challenge and want me to send you the login details, let me know 😉

Hi Teachy, is your website using CDN/Cloudflare? because if you do use it, then you’ll need the paid version Cloudflare APO, only that one provide the option to cache per device.
In case that you are not using the CDN and the problem persist without any cache, the please make a full backup and contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide temporary wp-admin access to further investigate the problem.
Thank you!

Hi Calin,

I don’t use a CDN.

Your replies have calmed me down. That’s very kind of you. My website is up and runnning. The problem excist but when it happens, I log in and open, save, clean cache like 20 times and check if it’s ok again. It is what it is…

This mystery only happens when I edit the template and since I am almost satisfied with the design, the need to edit my template is very low. So I am gonna eat this one and suffer. However, I have another website that needs a restart and when I am starting on that one, I will send you the details the moment I encoounter the same problem.

Thanks
