It seems all your website in not functioning properly. Please try to disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear any caching installed and switch to the main theme if you have a child theme active. Also check any custom code you might have entered in theme panel, or added to the theme files. If the issue is still present, I suggest you try a fresh theme install – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ using only the plugins bundled with the theme and no child theme, to see if it displays as intended.

I have solved it by installing one of the demos that come included in the package.
I lost all the configuration of the site although luckily I kept all the posts, pages.
I worry that this will happen again when the web is actually put into production.

I can not give you the exact cause for what happened, it could of been a plugin or plugins, custom code in theme panel, modifications to the theme files. It would be best to make periodical backups to your website, in case something unexpected happens, you will have a backup. The theme is tested and fully functional, but some plugins or modifications can cause problems, this is the case for every theme.
