And I tried to install via FTP, it appears to activate, but when I activate the plugin, my site stops working.

There are many cases of this issue happening, a simple search on Google and this can be seen, also various fixes can be found:

I got the plugin installation by redoing all wordpress and theme install. However as informed, the moment the td composer plugin is installed, no page in the site works (HTTP ERROR 500). And that way, I have no accesses for some Demos.

Did you have checked your system status to be according to our documentation from here
