Hello,
for some time we’ve had all theme (Newspaper) options below individual posts/pages displayed without any styling, and not clickable. It’s the same with the theme’s main options page. We haven’t done anything special on the website. Apart from regular updates (however, we can’t link the problem to any particular update).
The current version of the theme is 7.8.1. And WordPress: 4.9.4.
We’ve tried updating to Newspapet newest version (8.5) but it didn’t change anythign – the problem with unusable theme’s options remained (additionally, there appeared some problems with displaying certain parts of some pages/posts, so we switched back to 7.8.1 version).
Please advise what might be the problem

There were some issues between the theme and the WordPress update a few updates ago. These were fixed a while ago in version 8.2. It is recommended to always update theme and WordPress, not just one.

The FTP method is the most recommended. Then check if the issue is still happening. a thing to note is that after updating the tagDiv composer will be automatically activated. This can cause issues with specific Visual composer elements,
If it is, go through all these steps. Deactivate all plugins except theme plugins, clear all caching and CDN files if used. Switch to the main theme in case you use a child theme. Temporarily remove custom code added in theme panel or theme files, do not enter any code in theme files. While going thorough these steps, keep checking if the issue is still present.

Hi Simon,
it seems that issue was caused by the WP Hide plugin. We changed the /wp-admin folder to another one, and that seemed to be the reason for the theme’s options page issues.
It seemed like the theme couldn’t locate image, css, js files etc. Is it possible that your theme works correctly with this security plugin?
another issue: is it possible to upgrade to 8.2 or 8.5 and still use the WP Bakery Visual Editor?
It seems like switching to your tagdiv composer will not be easy. It’s not 100% compatible with the VE, and we have hundreds of page types, so going through all of them and changing everything manually, wouldn’t be something that we would like to do….

I couldn’t say exactly, we have not made any tests with that plugin. If it is causing such issue then it means there are compatibility issues. You could try a different security plugins and make tests

Yes you can still use Visual composer further. We will provide updates for this plugin along theme updates. There will be no problem using Visual composer, just remember to deactivate the tagDiv composer after making the update.
