I have a book reviews website, here is my concern:-
1) All the post featured image would be the book cover image, that is a portrait orientation.
2) Whenever I set the featured image, the thumbnails gets all zoomed in, and unable to see the entire book cover image.
What is the best way to work around it? Is there a way that the thumbnails generated does not get zoomed in, and fits everything, even if it leaves white black spaces on either sides?

Our theme uses a cropping system and specific thumbnails for all of it’s elements:

Unfortunately our theme has more wide thumbnails than portrait. You will have to asses the thumbs used on each element and only use the ones that fit your images best so the cropping will not cut too much of the image.
Changing the crop from our theme is not an easy matter so there is no simple solution I can provide to bypass the cropping.
