I’ve just bought the theme and I’m trying to understand how things work.
My previous theme was using wider featured images (795×250). But now they are all scaled on the homepage. However, when I checked the documentation it says “the images will be cropped from up and center of the image”. But it does not.
I have tried uploading smaller or bigger (1350×700) images too, they have also scaled down. Not cropped.
I’ve used regen. all thumbnails plugin and also used “Force Regen.”. I think I must have been doing something wrong.
PS: No cache or any other plugin is used. Only Newsmag plugins.

There is not an ideal image size for all thumbs, and a way to find what image will fit best would be to do some tests depending what blocks/modules you use most add an image more nearest with aspect ratio of the thumbs in which you want it to look well. Thank you for the kind response, however I’ve already checked those resources.
I searched similar issues on the support forum and one thing caught my attention: “php5-gd”
Once I’ve managed to install, now “Regenerate plugin” works correctly and generates needed cropped images. I think this is an important info you should include, because without “php5-gd” the plugin does not work correctly and people might think that theme is corrupted.
