I have the trending now widget in my right rail on all posts. An example is here. http://saucemonsters.com/college-dude-dumped-spotify/ The settings are definitely correct in that it should be showing the most popular in the last 7 days. However, some of the posts appearing are a month old. But in the same widget on the same page it shows new content from this week leading me to believe it is not a caching issue. (But I did clear all caches including my personal to be sure.) Here is a screengrab http://imgur.com/a/U6Pdd Please help me get only 7 days worth of posts to show.
Hello saucemonsters,
Please ensure that you have right setup your Trending sorting of your block from Block Settings in the panel. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, please try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core file and rule our the conflicting plugins. Clear all your caches and check the results. If the problem is still there, please provide some deeper details about your problem so I can identify it.
Thanks for your understanding!
All settings are correct. I deactivated plugins. Cleared cache. The problem is still there. Not sure how much deeper details I can provide. I was pretty thorough in my explanation the first time. Please review again and help me to fix.
Hello saucemonsters,
Please ensure that you have followed all the required steps in order to achieve best results with 7 Days Popular posts. Make sure that you have enabled this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/1BxRxbtBd3 For more information about this feature, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-7-days-post-sorting/
Thanks for your understanding!
I had that all set up correctly. There is something else wrong.
Hello saucemonsters,
Try to make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and then install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core files and check the results. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, you should disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and check the results. This feature has been tested with the theme and it seems to work as expected on a fresh install. Try to do this according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Thanks for the message!
Hi saucemonsters. If you have a block set to sort by most popular, it will pick out the most viewed posts from the past 7 days of traffic … regardless if the actual date of the post is within the last 7 days or is 7 years old. That’s why you can sometimes see posts in those widgets that could be months or even years old. I hope that makes sense. 🙂
I have the Trending Now (News Ticker) block in the header of my home page (https://pbn.com) and a block in the footer of my site that shows popular posts as well. Both are set to sort using Popular (Jetpack + Stats) because we use caching and a CDN.
We also see old stories popping up from time-to-time in both of these blocks. We’re trying to figure out how to limit the Popular sorting option to only display popular posts that have been published in the last 90 days. Haven’t figured that out yet, however.
Catalin, if you have any ideas how we could limit these two block to only show popular posts that have been published in the last 90 day, that would be awesome!
Thank you Providence Business! That answers the issue. I agree it would be a great feature to add limitations on how far back most viewed blocks go. I believe in the Newspaper theme it works that way. Surprised it wouldn’t be the same for Newsmag.
Hello providencebusiness,
Unfortunately, the theme does not have any such an option for popular posts which allows you to filter them by last 90 days, sorry! You should create yourself this feature through the code because we cannot provide custom services at the moment, sorry!
Thanks for the message!
We were able to change the base coding of the popular posts functionality and limit it to only popular posts that were published in the past 30 days. Of course we could have set that to any time limit, but you’re right … it did require custom coding.
You can see it in action at https://pbn.com
Hello
Please keep in mind that we do not have additional customization department and therefore we cannot provide custom services because time does not allow us to do so, sorry! Usually, we recommend the developers from studio.envato.com
Thanks for your understanding!
