Hi,
I tried to update my website from the activated Newspaper child theme 7 to Newspaper Version: 10.3.9.1 . I did everything based on the description “B. Update the theme via FTP” but when I activated the newspaper theme in my WordPress with all necessary plugins I am not able to see the website as it was before. I see only the titles without any visuals, headers etc. I was thinking that I have also to replace the funtions.php ,header.php style.php footer.ph etc with those I had in the old Newspaper directory but didn’t work. I am new to this so I don’t have any experience in updating the theme. Could you please help me? Can you suggest to me what further steps are necessary in order to have an updated theme and my website as it was before?

I am sorry the installed versions are Newspaper 9 and Newspaper 7 child theme and I want to update to Newspaper Version: 10.3.9.1!

Upgrading from 7 to 10 can be considered impossible. It is a big step and due to the big number of improvements this upgrade will require re-design of some parts.
Our suggestion is to update the theme and re-create the child theme as you can see here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thank you for your reply. Let’s say that child theme 7 is inactive. If I go from Newspaper 9 to Newspaper Version: 10.3.9.1 which I have, I will face the same problem? Do I need to replace php and css files?
At this moment I updated the theme, by following your steps for ftp, in the server and i have the new Newspaper directory without any modification.

Hello !
Once you have updated your main theme to Newspaper 10.3.9.1 you will have to create the child theme again. You cannot use the old files because a lot of paths and files are changed.

I followed all the instructions and I managed to build the Newspaper child theme. I found all the necessary files from /wp-content/plugins/td-standard-pack/Newspaper and i but them exactly as it was in my old Newspaper-child theme directory. Then I replaced the old Newspaper and Newspaper-child directories with the new. Still, the new Newspaper directory includes fewer files than the old one. In the old Newspaper directory, there are files like single_template_1-13.php, page-pagebuilder-empty.php, loop-single-1-13.php, header-empty.php. Should i copy and paste those files from the old Newspaper directory to the new or from another source?
At this moment when I activate the theme and I load my page, I see a message: There has been a critical error on your website. Read about debugging in WordPress.
Could you please let me know what is necessary to be done in order to fix it?

For the post templates they now can be found in here: https://www.screencast.com/t/JHruoxcl And If for example you want to edit template 13 you will have to add single_template13 and loop-single-13 to your child theme in order for the modifications to be recognized.
