Hi,
Currently using 7.1.1 with child-theme.
I wish to update to the latest version to 7.4 without loosing my changes in the child-theme.
What is the best way to do that?

Hello,
Unfortunately the child theme is not update proof. Depending on the file you edited in the child theme, you will probably have to replace and re-add your customization to the file in the child theme.
