I updated to the latest version of Newspaper via the Envato Toolkit. I don’t see any Visual Composer update under Newspaper > Plugins, though in my regular Plugins screen, I am told there is an update. What is the procedure for updating the plugin through the WP Dashboard when you have Envato Toolkit? I’m not supposed to do it through the regular plugin screen, correct? Ideally I need a straightforward update procedure that I can describe in detail to my client so she can do updates herself. I recall that last time I tried to update via the regular plugins screen, everything went haywire. Thanks.

It’s unfortunate that not only can’t this be updated from the dashboard or Envato Toolkit (meaning, my client could never do this herself)(And I only bought the Envato Toolkit for this reason), but the instructions on that link also failed because the file upload size was too big. Looks like it’s going to be a manual FTP with every update. I hope this changes in the future. I have to re-learn this fact every time there is an update, because I manage so many different sites with so many different themes and this is so particular and hard to remember about.

Actually updating visual composer does not require any toolkit or ftp method at all. You can simly deactivate the plugin and delete files for it: http://screencast.com/t/mjdRW5W5 And once you have the latest version of the theme installed, you can simply install VC again from the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/AyXUkuK6b
