Upgrade from version 7 to 8.8 and started an error This page does not work

Did you update the plugins as well? Clear cache/disable cache plugins if any?
Going from 7 to 8 is major upgrade. Any custom child theme elements will also need to be redone; so you may have to disable child theme from 7 when going from 8.

Also check the wp memory and set it to at least 96 mb or even 256 mb if you use more than 10 plugins as low memory can also throw a 500 error: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
