Hello, a have a few questions regarding my theme upgrade to Newspaper 10:
1. Should I upgrade it via appearance/themes like I will do to any themes template? Or there is a special tagDiv way?
2. Should I create a child theme in order to upgrade to Newspaper10?
3. I have set up a daily backup with my host company? Would you recommend doing any manual backups? If so, which areas should I backup?
4. All my third party plugin settings and especially my newspaper/theme panel settings will be preserved during the upgrade to newspaper10 or all this will be restored to default?
I will appreciate your help on this matter and let me know if I should consider any additional steps in order to make this upgrade easier.

excellent questions! I also would like to know it. Specially child theme is an interesting subject. As far as I know it is not recommended to using it with Newspapper theme. Am I right? I was expiriencing a lot of trouble with child theme and AMP, so since 9.7 I do not using it, but I miss it so much…
Hello !
1. In any theme / plugin ( tagdiv or not ) when a update includes moving files from a folder to another or so it is recommended to delete the old version and install the new one after that because if you would do it through a plugin or so it will overwrite files which may cause conflict.
2. Are you using PHP customization or so ? Starting with Newspaper 9 or even further there are a bunch of tabs that allow you to insert custom codes directly into your theme panel. Child Theme can have updates too and in that case it applies what I said on 1. If you’re using the Newspaper 10 and you want to convert to PRO layouts and disable the Standard pack then the child theme will no longer be needed because once you go Standard Pack-free everything will be fully editable using the tagDiv Composer.
3. If you have a daily backup then that’s fine. In every update we recommend having a backup and you can also do the update first on a localhost or test-site.
4. Normally nothing except the Theme should be affected since all the data is stored in the Database not in the theme or plugin files.

Ok this is what I am going to do let me know if is feasible or recommended
1. I will add Newspaper 10 under my Appearance/Themes
2. Will then activate it leaving my old newspaper 9.8 deactivated
Is this feasible / recommended? All my newspaper/theme panel preferences will be preserved? (color scheme, setting, google analytic, custom CSS)? Should I do anything else? I understand Newspaper 10 comes with enhanced mobile features that I will love to have for my audience otherwise I will not even bother.

Please follow our update tutorial here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ Most of the settings will still be there because everything is stored in the database not in the theme files.
Also please note that we recommend creating a backup before updating.
