Upgrading to WP Bakery Visual Composer

Hello, I have noticed that the load time for Visual Composer is very slow for me (4.4 seconds). I saw that I am running version 4.4.4, and they are now on 4.5.2. According to their update logs, it seems that the newer version would be helpful as the it’s rather large and slowing things down.

My first question is, how can I upgrade?

Once I upgrade to the newest version, will I have to set everything up again or is this all saved?

Hi,

The version 4.4.4 of Visual Composer is the latest version tested and included with the theme files. We’re testing the plugin latest version, if everything is ok we will include it in the next update and only then you can update the plugin by downloading the theme latest version.
Before an update please make a backup of your current theme installation, so you can revert back to them if something goes wrong. The styling modifications or options from Theme Panel should not be affected by updating your theme, only if you have custom modification to the theme’s files you will need to re-add them as when you update the theme these files will be overwritten. Also we recommend to update your theme using FTP method – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/

Thanks!

Thank you.

Also is there a way to decrease the amount of MYSQL requests? As well as speed up the plugin load time? The plugin has also increased the size of my homepage. Is there a way to trim this down?

Hi,

A solution to lower the number of MYSQL queries would be to reduce the number of blocks on the page, also you can remove the unused/unimportant plugins.
You can also try our beta Shim plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/newsmag-1-7-1-killed-our-server-again/#post-48576

Thanks!
