This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Are you using php 7.1 by any chance? If so please only use php 7.90 as we have not tested 7.1 yet.

I used 7.1. My hoster provides 7.1 and 7.0. Error is with 7.1 AND 7.0.
PHP 5.6 would fix it, but that is not the way to go.

Php 7.0 compatibility was only added in newspaper 7.6. Please update your theme by using this guide:

I am testing right now a testpage (https://carl.resource-packs.de) – this is the page where the error still occurs (with newest version of the theme).
Looks like the social media widget has that problems after some hours (maybe expired internal cache of social counter?).

I cannot see any error on that page and I cannot see no social counter either. Are you sure the page you linked is the one you are referring to? I can see a social counter here: https://www.screencast.com/t/Mslh6p3wQT but it seems to work properly and i can see no errors.

Please first contact your host and make sure that php multibyte module is installed and activated – http://php.net/manual/en/mbstring.installation.php
as I can see the video playlist does not work on your site.
As for the php error, this was caused by php version 7.1 and it still sticks on when changing to php 7.0. If you had not used 7.1 this problem would not have been present.
