Website is slow to load.

Website is optimised, homepage loads quickly, but articles (links) take time to render / load, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Most website speed-tests report positive results, but the site isn’t snappy enough, feels slow – it stalls for a few seconds, then loads completely.

I use the following plug-ins:
Elementor, Yoast, and W3 Total Cache.

Hi,

I see what you mean, it waits for a few seconds than loads the page all at once. Maybe the total cache is doing this, I don’t have a guide I could provide you to configure it. Check online guides for a better configuration of the cache, try different settings.

We recommend the WP super cache however, you could also give that a try
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
The guide needs to be updated, some settings were renamed but they are still the same. Make some tests with this plugin if possible.

It’s working much better now, but I get errors for “Remove query strings from static resources” and “Defer parsing for Javascript files”. How would I fix those issues?

Unfortunately after further testing, it’s just as slow as first mentioned. It used to be snappy, but I just don’t understand what’s wrong. Followed all the settings and suggestions.

WP Super Cache increases my TFFB to 10 seconds, it’s really bad for my site, I’ve switched back to W3 Total Cache for now.

Any advice? Would reinstalling theme work? Please help…

try this, disable w3 total cache and install autoptimize, Async JavaScript (works better with autoptimize). Exclude “wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js” and defer other java scripts. And also minify the CSS.

if you try different cache plugins whit same results, the problems is your hosting. Switch for a better hosting company. I Use Banahosting for a site whit 2million visits per month whiout problem using Newspaper (semi dedicated plan 25USd month). If you have a little traffic like 100,000 visits per month can use a starter plan 5usd/month.

Or try another company 😛

I tried autoptimize and tools.pingdom.com reports caching missing. I don’t know what happened my host was working fine earlier in the month and I choose them on a referral from a friend who’s site is heavy (size and scripts) and well visited. Same host, same plan, results on testing site are great, but that initial loading is weirdly slow.

I disabled the “slider revolution” and it has improved loading speed and reduced the site size by 600kb.

Update:

My host “inmotion hosting” has solved the issue by guiding me through “disabling the wp-cron.php in WordPress” which caused the slowed down of my site.

I’m happy to report that my website now loads less than 1 second on average.

Thank you all, for the help.
