I have a lot of applications running in the server and use PHP 7.1. Since I cannot downgrade PHP right now due to compatibility issues with other applications, I am getting a lot of warnings in PHP.

It means you can use any version of php 7.0 just not 7.1 yet. From the next theme version we plan to add full compatibility with the latest version of PHP.
