Hi I just purchased Newsmag and I have no idea where to get started. How do I start customising this theme?
So I just installed one of the demos and my site crashed. thanks a lot!

The best starting point with our theme would be from the documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-newsmag-documentation/ There you can find lots of useful information about theme’s functionality, how they works and how/when to use them. Also if you have any questions about the theme you can open a topic here and we will answer in shortest time possible.
With regard at demo issue I assume you got an ajax error when you tried to install it. If that is the case please check this link for more details about possible reasons which can cause this error and how can you fix it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/error-when-installing-demos-2/

Thanks, after I installed the demo I got an internal server error. i reinstalled a fresh copy of wordpress but now my media library is empty, at least I still have all my posts. I wish there was a more clear warning. I also did not know that the included 6 months support that came with the theme meant that I had access to a forum.
I apologise for my frustration but I was not expecting this much hassle to come with this theme. I watched the video explaining that all you had to do to install a demo was to click install and it would be beautiful, which is clearly not the case. I have my own content and I dont want to have content on my site that has nothing to do with my site, so if I click on “do not include content”, I have to build the theme from scratch. That kind of defeats the purpose of having bought the bloody theme in the first place!

An internal server error it’s not caused by the theme, it’s rather related with a server misconfiguration. Please make sure that your server meet the requirements specified in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-requirements-for-newsmag/ also check if the parameters from system status have the values indicated here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
With regard at demos if you don’t want to import their content just import the settings. When a demo without content is installed are imported only its settings, by this is mean colors, fonts, header style and any other settings from panel. In this case you will have to create your own posts and pages and customize them as you wish.
By default the theme does not create content for you, that is not its purpose. The theme handle only site’s layout. By this I mean how post/page will be displayed, how a specific part will be colored, when/where some posts will be displayed depending by user’s options. You can look at the demos as starting point in customizing the site. A demo it’s a site already built which can be taken as example when you start you own site development.

Yes this helps a lot. Sorry that I was a bit rude in my previous comments, I was a bit frustrated that all my stuff was gone, It was my own fault and thank you for helping me. I dont have any problems with my site anymore.
