When WordPress updated to blocks, it caused issues with the widgets on my website. I disabled the blocks and it was working again. Now I can’t access widgets to make changes regardless of what I do. If I disable the block editor and try to access Appearance>Widgets, it won’t fully load the page so I can’t get into the widget that I need to modify. If I switch back to the block editor, I get a ton of error messages about conflict with the theme and tag-div composer and the block widget won’t fully load either. The end result is the widgets are on the website and working, but I can’t get to them to edit or modify. Any idea what caused this issue? WordPress and Newspaper updates have been causing issues with the widgets for awhile now.
Hi Caiaphas, usually those problems are facing by users that do not have the last theme version, Newspaper v11.2 (if you have an old theme version this will not be compatible with wp and you’ll need to update the theme or downgrade the wordpress)
Please check the theme version and WordPress version. Also another alterative it is to use a plugin to get the old widgets layout https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-widgets/

I used that widget. Didn’t work. I have another widget that does the same thing across the entire website for all of Gutenberg. That works better than the plugin you are recommending. Tried both. Everything is updated. WordPress, the theme, and all plugins. I finally got into the old widget panel and updated the one that I needed to fix. It took numerous attempts, because the page is timing out. It is still an issue.
Hi Caiaphas, did you made a test using only the theme with theme plugins to make sure that other plugins are not interfered?
