Good Afternoon,
I’m having trouble with the widgets in the top of the footer. I have followed the documentation and cannot locate the content to make changes. I followed the guide to the footer section and the widget screen does no have the footer widgets that are shown on the site. I am able to add more widgets on the 3 footer section but cannot locate the existing content to change it.
Any guidance would be helpful,

I suppose that you have to change the standard content for your footer that comes with footer template style 1, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/OlyFGdcZlR Please notice you cannot change this from the panel because these are predefined by the theme for this type of footer. If you want to create your own footer section with your own content, you have to use the Footer template style 5 because it is a custom style and you can customize it as you wish.
