Hi guys,

I embedded a youtube video to my site’s main page; however, when the page is loaded on a cell phone the video does not resize and it only shows half of it, making it look bad.

I tried different solutions and Plugins but they do not work.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

Please provide a link to inspect this. I also checked this and did not found any issues, using the latest version of the theme 6.2.1 and only with theme’s plugins. You also can try it without any plugins active except of Visual Composer, clear cache and check again. Also please paste vidoe embed code that you used so I can test it.

Thanks!

Hello,

this is one of the pages that does not display properly. THis one and other pages do not display properly on my phone and other devices.

Also, I found out today that the menu does not work either on my phone. 🙂

Thank you!

Hi,

It seems that you’ve forgot to paste your site’s link.
The menu issue could happen due to a plugin so you could also test this without using any plugins, lave just theme VC plugins active, empty all caches and test again.
Let us know how it goes!

Thanks

I tried everything you said but it did not work. The url is comousarwordpress.com

It only happens when opening the site on my phone. Menu does not work and videos do not display properly.

Thank you, again.

Hi,

I have checked your site and you have some js errors in the console that may cause this issue – http://screencast.com/t/Imbv3nUDSMlq So please make sure that you test this without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer, clear cache and purge your files if you use CDN. Also please disable all js/css minification and see if you still have this issue.

Thanks!

I found the problem. It was the plugin W3 cache causing it. I deactivated all Plugins and activated them one by one until I found the one causing the menu not to work on my phone and the videos not re sizing correctly. I always used W3 and never had an issue with it until now. May be is because I was playing with it not long ago. Is there another option for that Plugin?

Thanks!

Hi,

We made some tests on our side with WP Super Cache and it behaved better that W3TC. So you can also use it – https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Thanks!

I also have the same problem with videos. I use WP Rocket but I don’t use CDN or js/css minification. In a tablet the size is fine, just in the smart phone. This is one example: http://churchandstate.org.uk/2015/08/read-here-three-powerful-stories-which-again-confirm-the-urgent-need-for-real-immigration-reform/

Thanks.

Hi,

Unfortunately we did not tested the theme with WP Rocket so I don’t know if it cause this issue or it is a conflict between plugins. Please deactivate all plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and see if you still have this issue. If it is fixed, please activate your plugins one by one and see which one cause this.

Thanks!

Could it be that you guys told me to remove a line of code in tagdiv_theme.js so that embedded youtube videos wouldn’t automatically resize to 100% on articles? Thanks.

I left my local installation with no plugins and I have noted that when I click “restore down”, this anomaly is taking place in IE (http://screencast.com/t/dMAS8MslRr). The same problem doesn’t occur in Firefox or Chrome.

UPDATE: When I then put back the line that you guys told me to delete: td_video.attr(‘width’, ‘100%’); (http://screencast.com/t/5EWuDsJMGfi), the problem is rectified, even with all my plugins back (http://screencast.com/t/KyovnYv1).

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you have removed that code from javascript file, the videos will have the width that you set for iframe, so if you use a fixed width it is normally that the video will not be responsive. I have provided to you 2 solutions there – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/control-over-embedded-videos/

Thanks!

Yes, I used your solution and it was great until I discovered that in my smart phone using Chrome, videos do not resize and it only shows half of it. However, when I switched to Firefox the videos look OK. I have now put back the original code and instead of 100%, I have specified 80%. But the problem is still occurring in Chrome on my smart phone.

Can you please check this link for example and give me your opinion? http://churchandstate.org.uk/2015/07/the-rights-home-school-conspiracy-how-i-helped-gop-launch-a-religious-war/

Thank you!

Hi,

Please clear cache if you use a cache plugin and also the browser’s cache(use Ctrl + Shift + R for Chrome) as I have checked your videos and they look fine on mobile device – http://screencast.com/t/dq8Jq30sje

Thanks!
