Same problem here. If there’s any text in Caption, it stretches the image to full width (even if original image is very small)

Ok, solved now. If there’s a fellow amateur wondering what to do, this is how I did it:

1. I found out what server type my web hosting was using. Answer was “Apache”
2. Copied a piece of code from here under Apache: https://varvy.com/pagespeed/enable-compression.html
3. Pasted that into my site’s .htaccess file – and done.

PageSpeed Insights results doubled.. woohoo!

“GZIP is enabled on our servers, but you have to implement it yourself.

What is tagDiv’s recommendation for the plugin?

And, sure thing it’s an ongoing process learning to run WP sites. It’s just strange that an almost fresh install of a “light and fast” theme with very light articles (50kB image per article), it gives 35/100 on Google PageSpeed Insights. Yes, amount and compatibility of plugins might affect, or web host speed. But I have read similar kinds of comments on the forum. I understand that you at tagDiv might now give the standard answer linking to the speed optimizing guide but I hope you are working on a more user friendly solution for the future.

I would also like to enable Gzip compression.

As the theme is marketed as a fast and easy to use theme without needing to know coding, I find tagDiv’s communication style a bit nerdy and technical. For example the guide says:

“The theme demo server is set like this:”

An amateur like me would ask, “set like this, where?” Is that a piece of code from the .htaccess file or what is it?

Anyway, I asked my hosting provider how to do it and they gave me links to different Gzip plugins.

Question: can you recommend some plugin for this use?

Feedback for future: please try to make the end product as easy (and good) as possible for the non-technical user – as it is marketed. It can’t be that you always hide behind the explanation that “optimizing site speed is for advanced users..” or “you need a developer”. On your theme sales page it says:

“Because everything is perfectly optimized for you!”

I now made a completely fresh plugin-free install of WordPress on a new domain. I installed Newspaper theme, then MashShare plugin. Same problem: https://snag.gy/vIpOlS.jpg

Ok, it’s not supported, too bad. I guess I have to learn some basic coding/editing the template. But I hope you consider fixing this small issue for future updates..

Unfortunately that did not help. I deactivated all plugins except visual composer. Cache or “cdn files” I don’t have installed at all. I did not add custom code and it’s not a child theme.

It’s a completely new website (just a couple weeks old). And I did install a few plugins after installing the theme (Yoast SEO, Hide my site, Shortcodes Ultimate to mention a few)..

What to do?
