Hi,
the new Gutenberg-Widget-Site comes with WordPress 5.8, not with Newspaper. If you want the old widget-system, then you have to install the Classic Widget Plugin from the WordPress Team.

after installing the Classic Widget Plugin from the WordPress Team and deleting all inactive widgets the new gutenberg widget site is now working for me.

Maybe this will help others – give it a try.

The latest theme update 11.1 is supposed to be wordpress 5.8 compatible but it doesn’t work for me either.
The widget page is still blank since wordpress 5.8

the Classic Widget Plugin does the job. All ist working fine till now.

Nevertheless, I am somewhat disappointed. I thought that a big company tests its theme for compatibility of future WordPress versions. Especially when such big updates in WordPress are coming.

Well, I am curious when to expect an update.

Sorry guys,

i found the problem. My import from drupal has filled the post_excerpt. I could delete this with a phpmyadmin command.

Now everything is OK.
