Hi Calin,

I had both of those settings at 25, but reducing the title length to 5 worked. It looks like the length displayed is a sum of the title and excerpt lengths, not just the title. I see a 35-character title displayed, but there is no excerpt to display.

I am only using the responsive header and no separate mobile version.

The background image was no longer saved for portrait or landscape when I checked just now. I re-added it, the page refreshed, and I saw the green slide-out confirmation when I saved each view.

The image appears in the editor, but the background image field is blank when I revisit each view. I tried this a few times, and the background image disappears from the settings every time. I have not changed any other settings.

BTW, I had the media file set to medium size, so the quality was degraded in the screenshots.

Hi there,

I just checked the site and it’s as if the earlier changes weren’t done. The header image is gone again on the live site when viewed on an iPad.

When I checked the header template settings the background images I added in the portrait and landscape viewports were not there. I added them again, cleared the WordPress and device cache, and I’m back to the grey header background.

I made sure I saw the green slide-out when I saved the header, so I’m not sure what’s happening. I’m hoping you ave a fix, but I can re-import the header template if not.

Adding the image to both views and clearing the cache worked a treat. Thank you!

I have Yoast & the author archives are on. Clearing the cache seems to have worked—both the cache plug-in and Cloudflare. Thank you so much!

Hi Bettina,

That’s what I have been doing, but the template always reverts to the global when I reopen the page.

I just tried it again and the new template name turned green when it was applied to the page:
New template assigned, link is green

Everything looked good. Then I closed the tab, clicked the preview button again (without refreshing or editing the back end), and now the global template is applied and the new template’s name is black again:
Global template applied, new template link is black again

I can apply a new template but it doesn’t stay applied for some reason. Am I missing a step?

Hi Bettina,

I am not able to get this to work. I published the new template, and I am able to change the template when I preview the page:

choose template

I choose the non-global template, and the page reloads to the new template. But if I close and reload the page the global template always comes back.

The product I’m testing this on is a draft. Does it have to be live for the template change to stick?

So just uncheck “Global” in cloud templates, then choose the template for each product (new and existing)?

Hi Bettina,

Looks like it was the Perfmatters plugin that was added in a paid site optimization. I’ll go back to that company and see if there is anything else they can use.

Thanks!

I think I had followed a different guide I found on the forums. This did the trick, thank you for your help.

I have tried adding your sample child theme via FTP to wp-content/themes/. Afterward, WordPress gives me an error saying I need to add a parent theme when I go to Appearances > Themes. Is there another way to create/add the theme?

Hi Catalin,

Here’s an example URL (it’s the same on all post pages) https://www.hungrypinner.com/copycat-carrabbas-bread-dip-spices/

This is where the ad is displaying now: ad now

The code looks like it should be displaying just above the review: ad code now

I want it placed in the default location for the Article bottom ad. Based on the above img, I’m assuming the correct placement should be in the yellow box:
ad bottom placement

Thanks!

Thanks, Catalin. I was seeing the weird placement in Chrome & FF on Mac, but not on my iPhone. Adding the td-visible-desktop class makes the ad disappear. It had been working, so I’m not sure what changed.
