Hi,
I’m running Newsmag 3.0 and all worked correctly until the last update to WordPress 4.6.1 of the last week. Now the background image link doesn’t work anymore (please see http://www.ntr24.tv/) and the mouse pointer shape doesn’t change from arrow to “little hand” on skin mouse over event. In the past, to get the mouseover behaviour, on your advice, the following custom CSS was placed in the Newsmag theme panel, but it does seem not to work anymore:
body {
cursor: pointer!important;
}
.td-top-menu-full, .td-header-container, .td-container, .td-sub-footer-container{
cursor: default!important
}
.vc_col-has-fill>.vc_column-inner{ padding-top: 0; } .wpb_gallery .flexslider { margin: 0 0 0; }
.td_block_14 .td-next-prev-wrap{ z-index: 1; }
As you can see from the home page skin, the shape of mouse pointer changes only on the right and left sides of the skin while it erroneously remains an arrow on mouse over on the top of the skin. Could you advice how can I get the skin right behaviour as well as to get working the background image link?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.

Hi,
as you adviced, I’ve done a clean FTP installation of Newsmag as detailed in your documentation but the bad white padding is still there (http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv/)as you can see from the higligted yellow zones (please see http://screencast.com/t/wAAWNriY).
Could you check please, and tell me how I can remove these unwanted white paddings since they seem not to be in the theme style.css?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.
Giuseppe
P.S. If you need the access credentials, I’ve already sent them to you by private message.
Thanks

Hi Andrei,
I’ve followed precisely your installation/updating documentation but no way, the icon still cannot be rendered. If you want, I could provide you the access credentials by private message on your email address.
Thanks a lot for any appreciated help.
HI Andrei,
I’ve the same problem too, because I only see the background green square but the Whatsapp white logo is missing (please see http://screencast.com/t/H1uQ5zIPrs6W). How can I fix it?
My web site (test environment) is at http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv/
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.

Hi,
I correct myself because now the banner is correctly rendered.
Thanks anyway.
Hi there,
I’m trying to place a Google AdSense responsive banner on the top of articles. The Newsmag documentation says only that “the Adsense code should be pasted in the required area”. So I’ve placed the js code generated by Google Adsense responsive ad unit (please see http://screencast.com/t/waoeNd70NW), but the Adsense banner is not shown even if the banner code seems to be generated by the theme and correctly included in the page (please view the source code of the page http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv/2016/03/11/pietrelcina-scoperte-una-carrozzeria-e-unofficina-avviate-senza-la-dovuta-documentazione-denunciati-i-due-titolari/).
Moreover the AdSense code works perfectly as you can see from this test page (please see http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv/test-adsense-banner.html) and/or http://screencast.com/t/VtO3DmHGWSYu
What could be the error?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.

Hi Andrei,
I’ve carefully read your reply about how post’s like counters work but, in my case it doesn’t work as you’ve explained. For example, please take a look at this post : as you can see, it was shared on our official fb page https://www.facebook.com/NTR24.tv (please see http://screencast.com/t/dn1yQSTL) right after its publishing on the blog http://www.ntr24.tv (please see http://screencast.com/t/6NFPoyYc9zE). Since both the blog publishing time and fb post sharing time are coincident (i.e. 8 April at 12:12), the fb like counter on the blog post page and the post like counter on the fb official page should be identical and that is not the case as you can see from here http://screencast.com/t/N2DlTn45f: why?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.

Hi Andrei,
thanks very much for you prompt reply and I take note of your answer even if, frankly, I don’t completely agree nor understand the tone you’ve used in the answer (i.e. using often “first of all we don’t…”) because, simply, it is not needed. Maybe it is due to a misundertanding. I certainly believe you that a clean test environment could work as expected but on our site where there are real posts and real visits, someting is not going as expected. And it is a good test bed both for you theme and for the plugin coming with it in the pack. On a clean test environment one can’t reach undreds of visits and WPP stats cannot be tested enough. Moreover I can assure you that our running WordPress 4.2.2 and that the theme and its plugins have constantly updated following scrupulously your documented procedures.
As a technician (I’m a software engineer even if not full web oriented), since we use your theme on a public web magazine which gets sometime thousands of visits, my aim and role is to solve malfunctionings and anomalies (as the dicrepancies between the theme views counter and WPP plugin stats is) and not to arrogantly pretend something from you. And I believe that the tone of all my previous posts can confirm that.
I thought to use the support channel because that anomaly boggles my mind and can’t find an answer to it.
Just for an example it was not neither too much evident nor documented that the theme unique contents setting “conflicts” with the “WPP” statistics and in fact it was a my deduction so I think that everyone, each from its part, should do its better in order to solve a problem or to explain if it is not completely understood. The same applies to settings I’ve made with your help that required code hacking and that obviously cannot be documented by you.
That said, I rather thought that the stats discrepancy towards the theme view counter was due to a my fault with some settings or similar because I assumed (and now I know that I was wrong) that all plugins that come with your theme are already tested from you as, for example, the Visual Composer plugin that you clearly advice to not update indipendently from the theme because you release the plugin updates with the theme update itself (I guessed after inhouse tests). Therefore if update releases are assumed to be correct, if something seems not correct I guess that the best way (after days of tests) is to ask to the theme creator: shouldn’t have I?
So that, dear Andrei, the question is still there unanswered: why there is a >1000 visits difference but if it is not possibile to answer no problem, but it is not right to be forced to show to our users the visit counts on posts, otherwise no WPP would be available, and after to discover that that stats are wrong for some unknown reason.
Endly, anyway, I have to say that Newsmag is a fantastic theme and that I’d buy it again even if one can always improve, also with its customer annoying posts. Isn’t it?
Thanks a lot again for your help and (sometime) useful advice 🙂
Giuseppe
P.S. Maybe I’ll need of your help again in the future so hope you will be still available 🙂

Andrei,
maybe the WPP stats meaning is (confirm please):
– all time WPP stats: visits that post received all the time;
– last 30 days stats: visits that post received ONLY in the last 30 days;
– last 7 days stats: visits that post received ONLY in the last 7 days;
– last 24 stats: visits that post received ONLY in the last 24 h.
Please, take a quick look at this post (http://screencast.com/t/iephzkyOn) which says that it received 5191 visits. For that post (dated 31/03/2016 i.e. yesterday), the WPP last 24h says 6744 visits http://screencast.com/t/O8M6nv9VOm0, WPP last 7 days says 6744 visits http://screencast.com/t/eAdljzs1hfrB (as I expected), WPP last 30 days 6745 http://screencast.com/t/0TKPmNT5dT2 (why one visit more?), WPP all time says 6752 http://screencast.com/t/oKhkSfjEeXN (why 8 visits more?). But, first of all, why the post view counter (reported on the post top near the eye icon) reports 6744-5191=1554 visit less http://screencast.com/t/rqmxpDbXz??
Thank you very much for any really appreciated help,
Giuseppe
Thanks a lot for any appreciated help.
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei,
thank you for pointing out the concerning documentation parts and yes, now also the ajax post view counter has been enabled. And is ok now and well understood how the WPP filter and the theme unique content works. But, sorry, even after your suggested settings, I still have a quite big misalignement between the WPP statistics and what it is supposed to be the real visits. For example, if you see the 24h WPP stats (http://screencast.com/t/qsZIfuhCvp) and 7days WPP posts stats (http://screencast.com/t/VSRrTY45rVLk), considering that the post’s creation date is the 30/03/2016, their WPP statistics should be coincident and that is not the case, why?
Moreover, things doesn’t changes for older posts: for example for a post dated 21/03/2016 (i.e. date > 7 days ago) there is a lot of misalignement between the following items:
– Google analytics stats (http://screencast.com/t/KlCXDgjfYBh2) which says 7 visits;
– all time WPP stats (http://screencast.com/t/pb3zHEOqJEqo) which says 48 visits;
– last 30 days stats (http://screencast.com/t/tIp4ZoUbp6) which says 48 visits too;
– last 7 days stats (http://screencast.com/t/pLUlHH5lGHOF) which says 33 visits;
– last 24 stats (http://screencast.com/t/RYcPCLZnL) which says only 7 visits as Google Analytics says!
– post view counter (http://screencast.com/t/FIoU6HzUgLZ) which counts 364 visits!!
I’d expected that all-time, last 30 days and last 7 days statistics must be coincident and it is not the case, why? This way, who knows how many visits have received this post?? And all the cache was cleared by means of “WPP->tools->empty cache” and “WPP->tools->empty all data” too on 23/03/2016 so that the WPP stats should be fresh and aligned.
Thank you very much indeed for any clarification on this stats meaning you could give to me which is struggling and confusing me a lot.

Hi Andrei,
I’m not sure to have well understood the meaning of your reply: I’m sure that on my test site (http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv) I’ve added the background image by means of the Newsmag->Theme panel->Background settings (please see http://screencast.com/t/KWrHk2tUN1Z) and the skin URL Newsmag->Theme panel->ADS->Background ad click (please see http://screencast.com/t/PD52RHolcL60). So what I’ve done wrong?
Thanks in advance for your kindness and availability.
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei,
thank you very much anyway for your availability and kindness.
Now you can see that the CSS works fine because I’ve fixed the top margin in the CSS in a different way. 🙂
Hereafter the code I’ve placed in my style.css (see the lines labelled with /*fix*/ string) and I’ve also removed the suggested custom CSS from theme panel:
/* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
container
*/
.td-container {
width: 1021px;
margin-right: auto;
margin-left: auto;
margin-top:95px;/*fix*/
border-bottom: 1px solid #e6e6e6;
background-color: white;
position: relative;
clear: both;
z-index: 1;
}
/*
and also here
/* responsive portrait phone */
@media (max-width: 767px) {
/* container */
.td-container {
width: 100%;
margin-top:0px;/*fix*/
}
.td-pb-row {
width: 100% !important;
}
Thank you very much again and hope this can help also someone else.
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei, good job!
I’ve managed to make the upper part of the skin “cliccable” and also to preserve the post visualization. Now the upper part of the skin is cliccable on PC (even if I resize the browser window reducing its viewport width) but on the iPad. In fact tapping the skin on an iPad doesn’t fire the linked URL as expected. What could be the problem?
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei,
now google DFP “responsive” banner works as you can see here http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv/. Actually, is not a really “responsive” behaviour because it doesn’t adapt the banner size as soon as the browser width changes but, it fetches the right banner size on the page load on the base of the detected browser viewport width. So that, on an Iphone 6 for instance, it loads correctly the 320×50 rather than the 728×90 as would load on a PC screen. The problem of banner sqeeze was your custom CSS code
.td-header-container{ top: 95px; margin-top: 0; }
used to make cliccable the upper part of the skin.
So what could be a the trade-off solution that both make cliccable upper part of the skin and doesn’t cause the banner squeeze problem?
Thanks a lot for your kindness and support on this unexplorated field 🙂
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei,
using the site after the your proposed modification of the CSS custom code which seem to work fine at first glance, we have noticed that it unfortunately causes bad side effects on the new created posts because it cuts off the upper side of the posts (please see http://wp-dev-ntr24-31ba64cdf656650e14f1f97f34ac243d.ntr24.tv/2016/03/23/benevento-alla-camera-di-commercio-la-presentazione-del-giro-ditalia-day-2/) or its screenshot http://screencast.com/t/LZrwkKOTgq:
as you can see, some part of the post title is cutted off because the post itself appears to be shifteed upwards therefore hiding some part of the post frame.
The complete title of the post is instead http://screencast.com/t/oXahLMMy0rqQ.
What could be wrong?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.
Giuseppe
… just would to add maybe an useful information for you: we are also using the W3 Total cache plugin: may this also be involved in this issue?
Should I enable the Ajax view count in the theme Post settings?

Hi Andrei,
thank you very much indeed: background skin and mouse pointer shape now work perfectly and as expected! Just one question: why do you advice to insert the custom CSS code by means of the theme panel rather than adding it directly in the Newsmag style.css file?
May be adding it by means of theme panel will preserve it from overwriting on theme update?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated and precious help.
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei,
thank you very much for your prompt reply and for you patience.
Now, I’ve better understood the 7 WPP post sorting behaviour, but still have a big doubt tha I try to explain better in the following. Since the moment I’ve enabled the visit counting display on posts, that is yesterday in the early morning, I’m monitoring the last 24h, 7days, 30days visits as well as what is shown on “MOST VIEWED” -“PIU’ VISTI” filter block on my home page. The results still continue to be incorrect. In fact, as one can expect, now the statistics of 24h, 7days and 30days are all aligned as you can see from here http://screencast.com/t/pVP8tbGpMd4, here http://screencast.com/t/Dx2BLPGVT, and here http://screencast.com/t/QPK69L6xKQ. As you stated in your last reply, now the first 4 posts in the 7 days WPP list should be the same of the 4 posts shown in the “MOST VIEWED” – “PIU’ VISTI” section on my home page: because the 1st and 2nd condition of your reply are now both satisfied.
But if I check opening the home page http://www.ntr24.tv/, I see this http://screencast.com/t/rI0JCOOHvym i.e. no one of the 4 most viewed -7days WPP- has been listed in the home page block!
And here comes another much more strange thing: if you go ahead clicking on paging controls of the filtering block in the home page and, right after, you click again backward, you will see the correct result as you can see here: http://screencast.com/t/XfD5OrSWM. Now the 7days WPP shown posts are correct even if you go forward and backward again by means of the block’s paging controls.
Moreover, even if the post list on the home is correct after the “unusual” forward/backward scrolling, the first 4 posts of 7 days WPP reported visits doesn’t match with the views counter of the related posts (the number near the eye icon on the post): please look here http://screencast.com/t/WwfJkAKjB and match with the 7 days WPP visits. Why?
Since I’ve enabled the “unique content” on site pages from theme panel, might have this a negative impact on the corretness of the 7 days WPP block filter behaviour?
If this is the case, I still don’t understand why results change scrolling forward and backward on block in the home page because, after all, the “unique content” still should have effect…
Thanks in advance of your pacience and kindness and looking forward to better understand about it.
Giuseppe
Thank you very much indeed Adrei! It works perfectly now! 🙂
About the cursor’s shape that doesn’t change from arrow in a “little hand shape” on skin mouse over: is there a method to get it?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help,
Giuseppe
Hi,
I’d just want add other details to the previous post: if you go on the webmagazine home page sidebar http://www.ntr24.tv/ you can see that the 7 days popular posts are http://screencast.com/t/O5nOAAzmZ8Km , while if you see in the admin panel the 7 days WPP you get instead http://screencast.com/t/1xs5abaL4i. But there is more: if you click on the pagination control to forward, you will see a 7 days WPP list (please see http://screencast.com/t/pQyf1aNmwYNU) which contains some of the right most popular posts even if not all the foreseen posts are reported (i.e. the first 4 of the 7 days WPP posts).
Endly, if you click the block pagination controls forward and then backward again, you will notice that the first 4 post of 7 days WPP are not the same! I’m getting very confused and still cannot get the right block filtering behaviour that is, to show in the home page sidebar the first 4 posts of the 7 most popular posts. Please, could you clarify and tell what is wrong?
Thank you in advance for any appreciated help.
Giuseppe
Hi Andrei, thank you very much for your prompt reply!
Yes, I’ve enabled the post view counter now but I still see a misalignement between the 7 days most popular posts http://screencast.com/t/ROekx1m5sFr (the first of which is http://screencast.com/t/hNQ2Ewzf) and what is shown on my home page (please see http://screencast.com/t/HrpMna5Q0kA). What could be the problem?
Now I’ve cleaned the cache In Settings->Wordpress Popular Posts and obviously I’ve lost my 24h, 7 and 30 days statistics but, before the cache cleaning I can assure you that the first 7 days most viewed post had more that 8500 visits and it still wasn’t displayed in the home page in the section “PIU’ VISTI” (i.e. 7 days most viewed posts); moreover the “eye icon” on that post shown that we had only 24 visits: why?
Endly, WPP stats is a wordpress facility why I’m forced to show to surfers the post counts (which could be a secret information) in order to use the 7 days post filter on blocks?
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.

Hi guys and thank you for your answers.
@Chris: I did not mean to merge the plugins CSS and/or JS but rather to make “local” their calls that are made in every site page header. In other terms, I’d like to copy these resources (CSS and JS) locally to my server filesystem and call them from there to avoid the TCP/IP delay overhead. I have already tried commenting the wp_head() and including them straight forward by their local paths but this approach causes malfunctioning to the page load. There is something of “dinamic behaviour” of wp_head() that prevents this approach to work successfully. But what?
@Andrej: I’ve deeply read the Speed Booster approach and I’ve tried it, firstly getting the blocking resources names by means of Google Speed Insights tips. It reports that the above fold blocking resources are:

As you can see, no one of the registered CSS and JS listed by functions.php curresponds to those found by Google Speed Insights! So that I don’t have any ID of CSS and/or JS to use to move their loading in the footer by means of td-speed-booster.php hacking.
What is wrong with that or what could be done instead?
Thanks in advance,
Giuseppe

Now it works again!
Thank you very much indeed.
