Hi – thanks for your response – i had the post number empty so i thought it would mean it would be unlimited, but it didn’t work. so i changed to 8 and it works…presume i can up it by multiples of 4 to get more slides?
i am having trouble working out how to get the posts i want appearing though – for example i would like to feed the latest posts from four different categories – so i put the id for these four categories into the multiple categories box. i was hoping the first id would appear in the first grid box and so on, as the first grid box is such a big picture and all the images in one category are usually big engouh, but if it selects posts from one of the other categories (the news category for example) occasionally the images on some of those posts are too small to fill the large grid box… is there a way of having the posts automatically filter in, but stay within certain grid boxes? or is it all randomly controlled on the slider (i know you can control which one goes in which grid box on a normal grid just by the order you type in the Ids for the categories..)

thanks again for your help

could you provide me with the specs/dimensions that the image should be if i want it to fill the whole of the background of the website?
ideally we would then get a designer to design the image to that size, with the message we want to promote in the part of the image on each side that will be visible either side of the website page…does that make sense?
as we will put text/logo on the visible part of the image(i.e. in columns each side), we don’t want this to be stretched, but would just want to the image to be the correct dimensions/size in the first place in order to fill the entire background…?

thanks, obviously with the site blocking the centre of the advert/background the advertiser will need to put his sales message into the only visible parts – the narrow far left and far right columns…so my remaining questions are:
1) is there a way of customising the size of the actual website page (e.g. making our webste page slightly narrower? not sure how much coding/customisation this would take? ) to give the advertiser a bit more space?
2) do you know of any other website using the newspaper theme that has got background advertising in place? perhaps i could contact them to see what specs they used, or at least view it to see how it can work?
we just need to present to the advertiser a professional spec or example, so they can simply provide us with the right artwork/image to work…
any further assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

as i have no experience, i’m not able to implement that code, but i’m presuming there are plug ins available for this theme that will enable me to have people register their email address with us? do you have any recommendations? or do i just choose any plug in available on the market? is it easy to install – get the plug in up and running? i used site ground to install the theme for me, as i’m a beginner, so worried i won’t be able to understand the plug in process either?
