I believe the # in the URL – might not match the # it assigns to each slide though?

How do I change the number in the smart list slides to correspond appropriately with the url?

IE slide 1, going to /1 – but not doing that till the end. Right now it does, say /1 as the first slide, but shows #15 as the number on the slide.

Yeah I turned off cache plugin, which in turn turns off the CDN. The page load was significantly different. Was multiple seconds different (by me just loading the page in my browser with no cookies). Was ridiculous. But I don’t think thats the experience with everyone… I dunno.. but thanks, I’ll try and do more testing. Just seems to load the images very very slow with cdn (though even slower without) – and I don’t understand why, besides this template being extremely bloated.

Can’t seem to find a plugin that does this (overlay FB like #s). I wonder if its possible to find the function in the template where it places teh comment # – and replace it with the FB code. Or is it more of a WP function and not specific to this theme?

Ok so you’re basically saying – its best to just get a list of files updated for each version and update all of those (assuming they are not the ones you customized, and at that point, you’ll need to update and then make the same changes) ??

In other words, the child theme – wouldn’t be that helpful in this situation?

What about after I make the file updates (assuming they aren’t the files customized by me). How do I get the theme to show that its of the proper update version – just so I can keep track of where I’m at?

If I update just the files changed in those two new updates – will it update the version it thinks I’m running, or do I need to edit that somewhere?

Regarding a child theme – I’ll take a look at the tutorial thanks! If I’m customizing maybe 3-4 files in the theme, do you think that would warrant such a step to make future updates more easily? I guess I’m asking, is all that work worth it – or does it even work as such, meaning I can just make sure those 3-4 files are not touched?

Thank you! I decided to just add another ad unit in the smartlist template – then it will just show both for the last slide lol.. More money in the end depending on the network chosen.

ok – I actually realized it wasn’t the “below post” content ad I was using – but another plugin that hooks into “below post” that is posting the ad I wanted on all the slides urls. So it gets a bit complicated at that point.. I can remove the placement from that plugin, and add it somewhere else for the rest of the posts (but how)?

I understand to add the code manually into the smartlist php file. But how do I get that same ad (or another ad) showing on bottom of regular posts (non-smart-lists)?

Yeah I have an ad there – but wanted the “below post” ad unit to show on all pages of the post (/2, /3, etc) – not just the last one. Guessing I can add it manually in the php file – however – it will duplicate on the last page, will it not?

I know you don’t want questions but this isn’t really a question regarding anything specific about what you wrote. I appreciate the post! – Just wondering, I’m paying for MaxCDN as well as using W3 Total Cache. Have you compared your local changes compared to using CDN and caching system? Is it safe to just disable the cache plugin (which implements the cdn) – and compare page speed insights? and then reenabling if the difference is worth it? It’s a live site – trying to avoid errors to current traffic.

Is there a way to add the headline above the image like normal, but the paragraph text below the image? Seems to add it all above the slideshow images.

So I’m wondering now how to get the featured image to work – because it won’t show anything on the homepage for the background of post or thumbnail – without one. However that screws up the smart list slideshows, since it adds the image twice. Is there any way of using the slideshow while still showing an image on homepage for that post?

That particular demo is using ajax or something to refresh the slide content – change the url, but it doesn’t refresh the whole page. The demo page here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/10-landscapes-wont-even-imagined-exist/ refreshes the whole page. I’d like to mimic that (for ad refreshes, etc). Is this not possible with smartlists? is there something I need to do differently than on your demo url you gave me?
