Ok, thought it over and I give up. 3 days of trying to make this work and still having to keep my theme hidden I want a refund and I will go back to my old theme I cant wait any longer for you to make my blog work.

Sorry I sounded a bit blunt, it does seem a good theme, a bit different with how you have integrated the theme options and I can see that you are staying up to date with things as regards updates.

And I do need a working blog that suits my style. Please have a look and tell me what I need to change to have the page I called ‘blog’ load up under menu item ‘blog’ and not redirect me to the ‘home’ page.

I need the front page the way that I set it up, this is a silo website therefore can not be built in that fashion.

Apart from adding back in the sidebars and filling the top footer with links to bleed my site of juice (which I spent time removing) I am not sure I ended up with anything that I can use.

Maybe most people don’t read documentation or watch the videos, I did all that before even buying the website, but if I follow the instructions and if that does not work I will contact you, so please stop telling me to read the instructions.

UPDATE: I moved everything back how I want it, and removed the changes you made.

The only thing I needed was for the page that I call blog to be the one that shows up under blog, it still does not do that instead it shows the blog index set up, can you please look, and leave all my other pages alone, including my front page which is how I want it. Leave the sidebars alone and the footer.

I hope you will be around tomorrow as at this point it would be easier to go back to the theme that I had.

I have the documentation out all the time, I have built many websites, I did what you said by following the document instructions and it did not work, cant see how doing the same again will work. I sent login details so this can be fixed, did you check it out?

Thanks, must have missed it.

Already rebuilt the thumbnails, so that’s cool. Not all look good anymore with this theme, so still having to redo them.

I just wanted to add a feature image that is a reasonable size, like 326 x 235 as that will keep my website fast, but then it does not fit into all the places and looks bad most of the time, but if I upload 700 x 357 its a big file as I have over 300 posts on my site and by the time I add all those images that’s getting too big.

I know Google is going to complain about page speed and that affects my ranking, so I am trying to balance it all up.

If the large 700 x 357 placeholder did not keep showing up under category page at the top, then I would not use that large size anywhere, if you tell me how to remove that top post which just seemed to be pulled from the first post, then that should make things all work out.

I am happy to do css, htaccess and php as long as you are clear where I am making alterations, prefer custom css if possible, but not sure you have that with this theme.

Happy to sue a child theme, in fact after custom css, it would be my next best choice.

I have discovered that the page I see when I click my menu is my category page as my menu items are my categories.

So under the theme editor I can set how the posts show on this page. The problem is at the top is still this massive area with one small image in it which appears to be pulled from the first post, it looks terrible.

When I select which module to show no matter which one I choose this image appears. I need it removed as it looks terrible at the moment.

Ok I went to another forum (wordpress.org) and was given help there.
From what I can gather I load the largest image which in this case is 1074 x 483 for the large slider, and then wordpress creates all the other image sizes by a standard cropping method, by installing a plugin that allows access to all those images I can choose how to crop them.

In the meantime I am working in Photoshop to find out the best way to set up the largest slider image so that when it gets cropped I stand the best chance of having a usable image.

I guess if I went for uploading just the 700 x 357 it will get stretched, but so far have not seen how that might look.

Will come back with a better answer once I have played with this a bit.

Update: Played with this a bit and if I start in Photoshop with a image size of 250 X 167 it appears to up size through all the different image sizes without a problem, so creating it first in that size then increasing the size to the largest image size possible which is 1074 x 483 would appear to work.

The plugin I am using to try and do it inside wordpress is Manual Image Crop which seems fine.

Hopefully this will solve at least this problem.

I went and resized some images to the 700 x 357 and it crops them when using it in other places, that would be ok except when the image includes writing and its chopped part way through! lol

Wishing I had stayed with the previous theme as I still need an answer that will work and not crop images and I worry there will be no help till next year or after xmas.

I will keep looking for a plugin that serves the correct size images, but I think this should be part of this theme since it has so many different image sizes.

One more thing how do you make image sizes it work with the slider? I just added the correct size but it cropped it for some of the other sizes.

I might switch over to the revolution slider as at least I decided the size of everything, but I really think it would take too much time mucking around as I intend to add at least 3 new posts each week, and revolution to look really good takes me time to set up.

Hi Christopher, I was just about to ask you to help me with image sizes! lol

I was reading through all your speed up website stuff (spent last 2 days getting my basic website (with enfold theme) up to high numbers) it started of low but now have it at 80/100 mobile and 92/100 for desktop via Google page speed, and GTMetrix is now 99% and 92% and I wont be using CDN at this time so don’t expect to get much higher on the Yslow Grade.

Thanks for helping with the images, my website is at a standstill as I could not work out the images and kept trying to find a plugin and was looking at scripts and hating it! lol

Dont suppose you are able to answer any of my other problems? So wish I had not added the theme, my other one was set up perfectly, but I felt it was leaking juice all over the place and this site looked like it would be fast out of the box and leek less juice and work well for a silo, but now I just have to hide it and know it could be what I am still trying to fix on xmas day instead of having fun!

I created a test page called test page and went through adding a template, publishing it, then preview and it works perfectly, so cant understand why I can not have a page called blog that works, or even our blog (which I don’t want to call it), driving me nuts!

Seems that I am in Australia, and when someone does answer I will probably be asleep.

Cant seems to edit my first post so have to keep re-posting, where did that edit button go! lol

Ok I see a problem, the theme has a selection called blog and it has modules in it, none of which I want as I want to create my own blog page with the style that I want (hence buying a theme that has a page builder).

So how do I select my page called blog created by me, and override the theme settings for blog that forces me to choose modules for a layout.

I don’t want to call the blog a different name.

Ok tried renaming the page to ‘our blog’ to see if this fixed the problem and it did not it still sends me to my homepage and again when I click on ‘our blog’ it shows the setup chosen under options for blog, so still stuck on creating a page designed by me and getting it to show.

Gosh this not making for a nice website, or experience, please help.
