Yes mine went down again but.. think I found the problem.. I deleted Zemanta plugin (it was deactivated already) and emptied page cache, no change, then deleted ShareThis (again it was deactivated already) and emptied page cache and it now seems the counter works for the time being.

Will keep an eye on it..

Thanks – very helpful. So it’s a plugin that uses social sharing in some way that I need to isolate?

Try going to the social counter widget in the admin area, clicking ‘save’, and see if that helps.

EDIT – it works for one viewing, then if you click refresh, the count has disappeared again, at least for me.

EDIT 2 – I am wondering if I should abandon this plugin and select flat icons from this free alternative but I don’t know if this will change anything, if the problem is how the tagDiv made Newspaper: https://wordpress.org/plugins/social-count-plus/screenshots/

Sorry I spoke too soon – it is now not working, it might have been a caching thing that made me think it was ok.

The social counter plugin was last updated on 25 April according to what I just downloaded via Themeoforest and it was working fine for me until today 30 April so I don’t think it makes any difference to delete and reupload?

Just wanted to add this has become a problem for me today also with Twitter count showing zero. I upgraded the Newspaper theme to 3.7 a day or two ago.

Plugin folder says I am using version 1.3 of tagDiv Social Counter.

Thanks ! – it all worked fine except 3.’.meta-info’ didn’t change:

a. the category tags
b. the search button
c. the footer text
d. the tag text

I may be wrong but I don’t think these have changed either:

e. the image caption
f. the final breadcrumb text (e.g. article title in breadcrumb line)

If it’s possible I would also like to change the text font in the following places also to also font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’;

1. Social Counter widget (the numbers and Fans/Followers text)
2. Breadrumbs
3. Category, author, date tags
4. Search query (including ‘If you’re not happy with the results, please do another search’)
5. Pagination numbers/text at foot of page

– Basically I don’t want the default font anywhere, but do want ‘Helvetica Neue’ family.

Thanks for the quick reply – it sounds a bit beyond me, I can tweak CSS spacing etc but not much other experience. I looked at the Single Post page in the Editor (‘Newspaper: Single Post (single.php)’)if that’s what you meant but couldn’t see much I recognised.

1. Can this bold/link colour effect also be applied headlines of listings on Category pages ?
2. Can the headline on a post page be made bold ?
3. If the date/category captions top left of Big Slide cannot be 100% aligned can the date be removed so only category shows?

One other thing marked on the screenshot, there is a slight alignment difference on the Big Slider title/date captions in case you can fix this – or perhaps intentional.

Thanks! – what I was meaning with the headlines:

1. Can all headlines be in bold throughout the site not just the Big Slide? (font-weight: 700)

2. Can these headlines be in the link colour already (like BBC News site) and also underline as they do currently. I understand you wouldn’t do this on the actual post page, just when it needs to link to the full post page.
