Thanks Bogdan,
I am aware that admin comments are automatically approved, but I tested this on a different browser and put in sample dummy comments. They did not appear in the comment moderation. They just never showed up.
I also observed that after leaving a comment as a user (not logged in as admin) that it does not say “Your comment is awaiting moderation.”
I also noticed today that a spammer was able to get a trackback to appear in my spam folder. So somehow trackbacks are working but not comments.
I’ll experiment with other themes and also use Plugin Organizer to turn off different plugins on a post and see if I can narrow it down.
There’s definitely something wrong, but it will just take some deeper detective work to figure it out. I’ll report back as this might help others who could experience the same issue.
Cheers

Sometimes a regenerate thumbnails works. I’ve had similar problems and that seemed to help.
Hi Bogdan,
I’d like to add a 4th column to the footer. What’s the difficult way to do this? I’m happy to do my own custom coding. I’m guessing would just need to add a widget field for Footer 4 (4th column) and then add some PHP code in the theme core files and make sure it matches up with existing CSS rules.
Thanks in advance ๐
Hi Catalin,
I think I figured out the problem. It was the first time I’d ever seen it before. On Safari, I sometimes zoom out in order to see more content on the screen when I’m working. On this occasion, when I zoomed back in, the feature image remained smaller for some reason. After I went back to actual view (100%) then I had to clear the cache and refresh and that seemed to fix it. Pretty bizarre, as I’d never had this particular issue before. I think it was a browser issue rather than a theme issue. Thanks for your attention just the same.
Most appreciated!
I’ve done a bit of digging on this and I think Chris is right. In HTML5, if the page is properly formatted, then it is possible to use multiple H1 tags provided they are clearly attributed to the header in the header section and within the body you use <article> tags. Here’s a quick run-down: https://www.greenlanemarketing.com/blog/seo-101-seo-and-multiple-h1-tags/
I think the most important point is that, as Chris said, they must be used correctly. Was definitely a learning experience for me. Thanks for the debate guys.
Cheers
Interesting Chris. I’ve seen different theories on this, things like not having more than 1 set of h1 tags. So are you saying to leave the H1 in the logo and then have another h1 for the page title (or designate the page title as an h2)?
I’m always keen to learn. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
Kind regards
I just noticed this as well. What was the logic in putting the logo in H1 tags? Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t see how that could possibly help with SEO. Now I’ve got to go back and recode the H1 to a div. Sigh…
Soundstrat, are you still using Newspaper 6.3? My site updated to WP 4.8.1 automatically and have not had any conflict with Newspaper 8.0. Just wondering if you updated to NP 8+ if that would help (?).
Or has anyone noticed this issue with WP 4.8.1. and the latest NP 8 update from a couple days ago?
Cheers ๐
Thanks Simion! Must have slipped by me. It somehow didn’t register that header style 6 was the same as on the Health demo. Cheers ๐
Muchรญsimas gracias Javi! Voy a volver a la otra version ๐
Hi Bogdan,
Most appreciated. I’m pretty sure I can do that on my own. I’ll have a tinker and let you know how I go.
Amit, just to let you know, I found a plugin which has the same functionality and you can add as many inline ads as you like. Check it out here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-ads/
Kind regards ๐
Hi quicodomingo,
I found the code in the td_module_single_base file and duplicated it, but am curious to know how you were able to get another field to appear in the theme panel. Would welcome any advice you can provide. Cheers
Hi Bogdan,
I’m also interested in creating two extra inline ad slots. I’m happy to do all the coding and customisations myself, but would just need to know which files I’d need to alter. Would greatly appreciate any advice or tips you can offer. Kind regards ๐
Hi guys,
After hammering around on this for a few hours, I was able to fix the issue but wanted to leave a comment for the benefit of others who might have the same issue down the track.
First, I completely uninstalled the WP Rocket cache plugin. I then wiped it clean from my hosting account and database (see this article here: http://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/694-uninstalling-wp-rocket). I got a fresh download of the latest version, installed it, and then activated each option one by one, and checking to see if the site was rendering correctly (note, clear the cache each time before checking).
Anyway, at long last, it made a difference and I’m back up and running again (despite the fact it wasted half my day).
Hope this helps someone else.
Cheers
Hi guys,
I am using WP Rocket caching plugin and when I turn it off, the titles come back. If I turn it back on, they go away again. Seems to be the culprit, but just not sure how I can fix this.
When I look at the code inspector in Firefox, I can see that when I reduce the screen width, the title, author, and date disappear (meta content), but the coding remains intact despite it not rendering.
Would welcome any suggestions on how to force it to load.
Kind regards ๐
Hi guys,
Ok, final comment here. I’ve resolved it. But it wasn’t through any special tweak. It was a conflict between my theme and WooCommerce, but somewhere along the line my installation must have gotten screwed up and caused the issue. I basically replaced the Newspaper 8 theme with a new install and it fixed it. FYI, if anyone else has an issue, perhaps ask them if they’ve made any changes to the theme. If so, a fresh install helped me out in this case.
Follow up comment to my earlier post. I notice in the code that it includes references to visual composer (i.e., wpb-js-composer js-comp-ver-5.1.1 vc_responsive td-animation-stack-type0), but on my product and shop page, I am not using visual composer. Just the native WordPress interface for page creation. I wonder if there is some sort of conflict where it’s calling on Visual Composer but it’s rendering a standard WordPress page (?). Open to suggestions.
cheers
Hi team,
I am having the same problem as above. In short, my single product page and shop page have lost their left margins and are all over the place. They were working fine but out of the blue appear to have gone to sh*t virtually overnight. I just updated to WordPress 4.8 but not sure if that’s a culprit.
In reviewing your post above, I still appear to have the correct code on the product page which is similar to your example. See below.
<head>
<body class=”product-template-default single single-product postid-7643 woocommerce woocommerce-page website-review global-block-template-1 wpb-js-composer js-comp-ver-5.1.1 vc_responsive td-animation-stack-type0 td-full-layout td-js-loaded” itemscope=”itemscope” itemtype=”http://schema.org/WebPage”>
I turned off all plugins except for Visual Composer and WooCommerce and the problem still exists. I tried a different theme which did appear to resolve the issue. When I go back to Newspaper 8, the problem returns. So there appears to be an issue between the theme and WooCommerce. I also updated to WP 4.8 which plausibly could have contributed.
I’m quite experienced with WordPress after nearly a decade of using it, but this one has me stumped and frustrated. Would welcome any help you can provide.
Thanks guys ๐
Hi svharishtech,
I’m using TD composer and VC at the same time and have been experimenting back and forth with both. So far, my experience has been positive. I’ve been able to create content with TagDiv composer and then able to switch over to VC and still have it render normally.
I’ve got an installation on a subdomain so I can play around with it first before I put it on my main site. I like to get my head around it before I send it live.
Hope that helps ๐

Brain916, Just an FYI, I compressed the child theme folder and was able to upload it as normal. Worked fine.
Hi Catalin,
Thanks. Not sure what the difference was but these files worked! Big fan of your work!
Cheers ๐
Hi Catalin,
Most appreciated. It actually looks pretty easy and is similar to what I did on my old coding, but for some reason it’s breaking the theme. Here are screen shots of the coding I did:
menu-mobile.php – http://www.screencast.com/t/UB4W9lUgl11k
td_menu.php – http://www.screencast.com/t/9Wn8b6yB
I thought it looked the same as your examples, but perhaps I’m missing something obvious in plain view ๐ Are there any other changes I need to make that perhaps I’m overlooking?
Would welcome any suggestions.
Cheers ๐
Hi Catalin,
Thanks for your response. I’m able to do my own custom coding but would just need to know from you which files and code I would need to modify. Clearly there are more files in play now than just the menu-mobile.php and td_menu.php. Would welcome any info you can provide.
The mobile theme doesn’t really help me since I’m not just displaying articles on the front page.
According to your theme information:
“Homepage โ the โMobile Themeโ comes with a single predefined page template that includes two section:
top grid โ displays 3 featured posts (posts included in the Featured category)
latest articles โ displays the latest articles
If you want to display the same elements on both mobile and desktop, donโt use the mobile theme, the main theme is already capable of this with itโs responsive design for mobiles.”
The latter is what I’m currently doing, so unfortunately the mobile would not meet my needs.
Cheers ๐

Hi Guys,
I’ve successfully used the customisations you’ve provided above for a custom mobile menu. However, after updating to 7.7.1 it no longer works.
I have checked both menu-mobile.php and td_menu.php to see if there were any coding differences, but they seem the same as in previous versions of Newspaper.
Can you let me know if there are any other files which might now be interfering in this code working correctly? To be clear, I already updated both menu-mobile.php and td_menu.php to the modified code and added it to 7.7.1 before I uploaded it to my site.
Would welcome any input you might have. Thanks in advance ๐
Hi Andrei,
I’m having a hard time getting that custom code to work on my site. I’ve specified the page number and placed the CSS code correctly, no syntax errors, but after I save and clear the cache, it’s still not changing font size no matter what I do. Just curious to know what else I could be missing. I’m reasonably experienced with websites after a decade of tinkering with code (CSS, HTML, PHP, JS) but I’m pulling my hair out wondering why this code is not having any effect. Would welcome any suggestions you might have.
Kind regards ๐
