Under Appearance -> Menu, open rolled-up menu item’s options and find:

“make this category a mega menu”

Click into dropdown menu and pick your desired category from which you want to show posts after hovering your mouse over it on website’s menu.

Didn’t notice it, but have you tried using cache plugin like WP Super Cache?

Maybe it helps.

I added <?php comments_template(‘comments.php’, true); ?> into loop-single.php in my Newspaper-child theme:

With disabled WordPress comments and “SEO Facebook Comments” plugin enabled, it looks like this:

…and with this plugin, it inserts comments into database so it show comment count next to post title.
