Thank you for a great answer! I guess I have to set up a test-install and try both the multi-sites and qTranslate X-alternatives.

The issue i feel about using a wordpress multi site solution is mainly that I want the site to recognize the visitors language based on IP and the display the correct language (of course with an option to change it in the main menu). As far as I can see qTranslate does this.

The missing of language-based slugs/adresses is however a problem since I´m guessing SEO-rankning does takes an impact if the adress is in another language part from titles and such.

Apart from the posts and translation of them (which I assume works really well) how dows qTranslate X handles comments, menus and other “small” stuff?

Brilliant! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you 🙂

Yeah these issues should without a doubt be the number one priority for tagDiv.

Also even though issues have been brought up by users many times, and in many threads, the issues seems to be dumbed down and pushed to the side as if the problem isn´t very big.

A thorough answer would be greatly appreciated regarding these issues and what the developers expect to do about it. Also love the theme and would like to continue using it, but if it comes with a loss of visitors compared to the previous version 4 of the theme the choice to use another theme isn´t very hard 🙁 (very sad face)

There have been quite a lot of these threads lately. I´m still on 6.1 and everything is working as it should.

Can we be guaranteed that there are no more SEO mistakes made in the 6.3 update or is it better to wait with updating till a later version? Cause if there is one thing one usually can´t afford it is ranking loss due to technical issues.

Thought this issue was fixed with the 6.2.1 update (haven’t updated myself yet since these issues was introduced with the 6.2).

But guess they haven’t done anything about it then? Feels really weird since the forum completely exploded with posts regarding this issue when 6.2 was released…

Tagdiv?

Just went in to the Envato backupfolder, extracted the backup, deleted the whole Newspaper-folder on my FTP and copied the old version from the zip back on. Everything seems to be working.

Was this the right way to do it? :-/

MrOrsh

Do you know how I revert the update once it´s already been made? Having the same problems… :-/

MrOrsh

How dows one go back to 6.1? Have the same issues, this is seriously bad…

Found a third one that really should be adressed, changing the default link color without the need for Custom CSS and trying to target every type of page individually.

Right now I have to do this:
/* Make the links blue */
.td-post-content a {
color:#4db2ec;
}

I realise the link color changes with the theme accent-color, but this is hardly always what one wants.

Otherwise like the new version so far 🙂

Ahh, it sticks at the bottom! That is why sometimes the pictures (like the one with the boat on my first post) gets cut.

And now that I was gonna write and ask if there is an option to make the sidebar always stick to the top I realise that would be reallt stupid since then the users with smaller screens would never be able to see the whole sidebar.

Thank you for explaining it to me 🙂 Now I might just dare to go through the 4 to 6 update 😛

MrOrsh

It works perfect when the browser window is all maximized. I scroll down a little and as soon as the sidebar is about to dissapear it instead gets sticky and follow the scrolling downwards (as it should). And it looks like this:

However if the browser window is anything other than maximized (as in doubleclicking the window frame) the sidebar gets sticky way to late when scrolling down. Causing the issue in my first picture.

I have now tested this on both PC and Mac (safari, chrome and firefox). On mac the issue seems to be there all the time.

Am i making any sence? You must be able to see it too?

Ok. So guess I’ll just go with ftp deleting and redoing the whole theme then 🙂 I realise I have to put my site in maintenance mode during the upgrade. However, is there a way to run both themes next to each other (copy over the new files from 6 into its own folder) and developing the new look while the old one still is live?

No one have still answered my question about where the new theme finds information about the old theme settings when the old theme is completely deleted though 🙂

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

So… delete old theme folder, put the new folder in there instead and press the button and everything will be done?

Forgive me for being suspicious but the guide gives no explanation to where it finds the old settings after everything is deleted, if the custom css is saved, if the font changes are saved or any other details.

Yes there is a general guide (the one you referred to) but it is not good enough. Sorry.

Specially the paragraph saying “After running the import script it may be impossible to roll back to the older version of the theme without a backup of the database!” makes me feel sketchy about updating.

Figured it out myself with some custom css to add in the custom css-section.

/* Make Social Couter buttons always visible (also on small screens) */
.td_social_button {display: inline !important;}

Hope it can help someone else with the same problem 🙂

Brilliant! And sorry for my ignorance about actually being able to change the color right från the widgets-section. Ta bad there isn´t a color selector for the text-field widget. But I can live with targeting that via CSS.

Thank you so much for your patience.

If all developers could be as devoted to their products as you guys 🙂

MrOrsh

Thanks, that does work. Added an extra a for the links as well.

However just realized it didn´t effect the search results where the colors still stay native (blue). I´m guessing there is a way to target that too, however it would be neat with some kind of general argument that is present in all the sidebar versions to target.

But guess the theme isn´t really built that way.

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Thank you, worked like a charm.

I now though noticed that when in category-view there is yet another type of container for the sidebar loaded.
span4 column_container

When i target this with .span4.column_container all the columns used in the footer also get targeted and go black.

I can´t really see a way to actually just target the sidebar in categories-view, without also changing the color of the footer ones. :-/

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Thank you! That did it for the front page. However it does not seem to target the sidebars on the post-pages (even though it is the same sidebar!). In the code I can see that the .wpb_widgetised_coulumn only exists on the homepage. On all the other pages the sidebar resides within a div called “span4 column_conatiner td-post-sidebar” (as seen in the picture).

Is there a way to target that one as well? Since I would like the same colorscheme in the sidebar on all pages.

MrOrsh

Almost what I meant 🙂

I want to change the background color of the headlines for the blocks on the sidebar including the 2px line. I want them to be black as in this picture, standard they are blue.

Thank you so much for helping. I have unfortanely already tried that one and it´s not the best quality plugin :-/

Seem like I might have made it work myself though, by using some of the styling from the pagination that is already included in the theme.

By putting this code on the page:

<div class="page-nav page-nav-post">
<h4 class="block-title">Navigering</h4>
<a href="natverk/2/">Kapitel 1. USB Wi-Fi-adapter</a>
<a href="radlost-natverk/2/">Kapitel 2. PCI-E Wi-Fi-nätverkskort</a>
<a href="tt-tradlost-natverk/2/">Kapitel 3. Moderkort med inbyggt Wi-Fi</a>
</div>
<!--nextpage-->

and this in the Custom CSS:

/* Custom Table Of Contents - navigation */
.nav-margin { margin: 0 0 0 10px !important; padding: 0 !important; }
.nav-margin.nav-current { color: #4c9eeb; }
.page-nav.page-nav-post { margin: 0 !important; padding: 0 !important; }

I´ve been able to achive the results of picture 1 and I´m actually totaly happy with that. I do however have two questions.

1. On picture 2. How do I target the <footer>-section to get rid of the martin-top?

2. On picture 3 I have enabled (Easy Social Share Buttons – plugin. I have this on every post but for the ones with pagination and my custom table of contents-map I have to disable them by the bottom of the page otherwise whey interfear and gets put in between the pagination and the table of contents.

Is there a way to move the pagination-div up to be directly below the actual post-text? So that the Social Share buttons get placed below the 1, 2, 3 Next pagination.

Thank you for the response. The plugin you recommended works OK for computer-use but does not do a very good job for mobile devices and smaller screens.

I have searched everywhere to try and find something that at leasts gives me the option to write custom titles instead of the regular 1, 2, 3 etc. for the paginated posts but so far – nothing. Not even among the pay-plugins on codecanyon etc.

I know this doesn´t really have anything to do with support for the theme but do you have any other ideas where I might find some plugin (or anytning) that gives me this option?

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Ah, well that´s too bad. However the fix seemed to cure the issue for now.

Let´s hope you figure out the actual source of the problem till a future update then 🙂

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Thank you for the answer.

How do I check for errors in the console?

The odd thing is that the font setting seems to get reseted and doesn’t change regardless how many times I reload the page. The only way to change them once they have become “odd” is to go back to the custom typography tab, reselect the font in question and save again.

I have noticed that when doing this and the font is restored to what it should be this makes one of the other fonts on the page change immediately after pressing Save. As it is right now I can’t work with the page at all since random fonts keeps changing every time I save something.

Could I have messed up the whole installation some how?

Is there perhaps a way to actually download the Google fonts used and put them together with the site files to make loading easier?

This is driving me crazy now 🙁

I´m really sorry for making more posts but there doesn´t seem to be a way of editing a post for more than a few min after the post has been made. Here is a screengrab of the phenomenon described in my second question. First it looks as it should (the top image) and then all of a sudden all the fonts gets messed up (bottom picture).

http://i62.tinypic.com/2vihy4y.jpg

Really frustrating 🙁

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

After some digging I found where i changed the desired headings 🙂

I am however still curious what the Tabs Font actually changes since it seems to make no difference anywhere on the site when i change it 🙂

I do have two more questions:
1. How do I change the font in the footer section (regular block-text in the left most Footer column)?

2. Sometimes when I the last day have been playing around with the fonts I´ve experienced that all of a sudden the fonts can stop to load and hence won´t display on the page (they get replaced by some weird standard Times New Roman-like font). It all looks fine in the settings. But I am forced to actually go back in to the font settings and reselect the font I want to display in the actual place and re-save. Then the font shows up again. However after a little more playing around changing fonts one or more of the fonts stops working and ends up being replaced with the generic Times New Roman-like font and I have to go back and change them again… :-/
