Hi again,

Just wanted to share that the issue has been resolved. The culprit was the an old tracking code from Adtraction that was (somehow, and all of a sudden causing the issue). In case anyone else stumbles across the same issue 🙂

Same issue here with Chrome. Firefox looks perfect.

This might be an issue that appeared in Chrome with later versions, however the theme is definitely affected by it.

Have not changed any thumbnails etc. lately. Please refer to this featured image in Chrome for example. In Firefox it looks super sharp, but in Chrome it´s blurry and pixelated: https://www.enkelteknik.se/sa-ser-du-vad-din-dator-innehaller

Thank you for the answer. Unfortanely that didn´t help. The issue occurs on Safari for Mac and iPhone AND on Chrome for mobile but NOT on Chrome for desktop. Haven´t tried Chrome on Mac yet. But it seems it´s not a mac-only issue, since the phones are affected as well.

Really weird. I know sometimes it takes a few hours for ads to show up on mobile, but this one is three days old. So a little unsure what could be wrong.

Any more ideas?

Thanks!

Sorry for borrowing the thread but I have a similar problem. For one of my articles, no ads are shown on mobile nor when using Apple devices (only tried a Macbook Pro so far though). On Windows-computers all ads show just fine, even with window minimized to mobile-browser size.

The article in question: https://www.enkelteknik.se/se-vilken-modell-av-iphone-du-anvander.

I´m using the same ad-code for all pages and posts with the Advanced Ads Pro-plugin.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thank you 🙂

Is there any ETA date for the next update btw? Thanks!

Just in case someone else stumbles across this one, I had the same problem with the sidebar ads not showing up. Turns out I had to go into the “Image ad” tag (on each ad space in tagdiv composer) and click “Remove” on “All devices” (up the top). Then my Custom Code worked just fine 🙂 Guess this is beacuse the ad-space was imported from a template and used to be an image place-holder ad before 🙂

Hi again,

That sounds good. I guess in the meantime I´ll just disable auto-loading, or try and find a plugin for it. However it doesn´t seem to be any good ones as the included function 😛

Fingers crossed it will be solved 🙂

MrOrsh

That is true, not sure you saw the edit in my last post. I would very much like to use the auto loading feature. However it feels that it might have an impact on SEO when it behaves like this. Since the actual URL change. Or am I being paranoid? 🙂

Also thought i might be good to be able to link to a certain comment page for example. Hence it would be nice to see the link for it.

MrOrsh

It only seems to be occurring on certain themes (or templates). If you, for example, go to the demo of the Romanian-theme (great theme btw!) and click the comments-icon next to the page-views you will quickly see the word #respond appear for half a second next to the url. Then it disappears.

Take this page for example: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_romania_news/penns-expanding-political-climate-gears-up-for-2020-election/

Edit: Well, it seems turning off the auto-loading feature makes the links display like normal again. Also noticed that the #comments-page-1 etc. also disapperas completely from the source-code as well when this function is enabled.

Personally i really like the auto-loading function and would love to keep it. But now I feel a little unsure, when it comes to SEO and all that with the links disappearing :-/ What are your thoughts?

I finally found the correct php-file “tdb-comments.php” located in plugins > td-cloud-library > parts. Editing this file does what I want, so all good so far 🙂

Is there however a way of adding this file to the child-theme so I don´t have to manually update it after each update?

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

No problem. My English is a bit messy 🙂

Ah, but that was it 🙂 For some reason the Single Post BG Featured Image was being used. Just replaced them and now it works.

While I´m on the question though, do you know if there is a way to make videos appear in higher quality when being used as a featured video? Right now it loads (as a still) with the lowest possible resolutions, however when I press play on the video it instantly changes to the actual video size/quality of 1080 px.

MrOrsh

Hi! That I have done. The question was more if there is a possibility to create a custom template that uses the Video post format. Right now (in tagdiv composer) there is only featured image, no featured video.

Hi,

Ok, so I would be possible to keep doing what I´ve been doing so far then? I have been trying to alter the comment-section, but can´t seem to do anything with it.

No changes I´m making to comments.php within the Newspaper-folder (not Child theme) gets executed. I´m using a cloud template for my posts-pages, does these load comments-styling from some other document?

I even tried renaming the while comments.php-file but the comments are still there. Really odd 🙂

Brilliant, I’ll try that!

I actually just want to add the code for an ad to display in between the top menu and main menu (so pretty much like header style 4). However I would like to keep the underline border for active and hover over the menu links (as in header style 1 and the multipurpose headers). Figured just editing the multipurpose header file was the easiest way to do this, rather than to try and incorporate the underline animation into header style 4 🙂

Well at least I´m not the only one thinking something happened with the speed the buttons load after the template update. Good to know I´m not crazy 😛

My bad. I thought it was the social counter plugin that was used for the normal sharing buttons (Theme Panel > Post Settings > Sharing). However I see now that it wasn´t. So it´s the top and bottom sharing buttons I´m talking about.

They seem to load instantly on the demo. They have been loading instantly on my site too, however with the last update it takes a couple seconds for them to load. To they recieve data (like the actual icons) from somewhere else or are they locally stored with the theme? Thinking if this could be the case for the slow, and somewhat annoying, loading.

Glad the issue could at least be reproduced. I haven´t found out why it happens. However I have found out exactly _when_ it happens. The conditions needs to be as follows:

  • Must be using tag-div-composer.
  • Must place an image in either a Column text, Text with Title or Raw Html without any additional text or other images.

As soon as I add any other element with the picture (paragraph text, other image etc.) the issue completely dissapear. Adding a caption to the picture also makes the issue go away.

I have now added captions to every image to solve the problem temporarely.

This however brings out another question. I realise I could just as well be using the Single Image element to simply add the picture. I have asked this previously but haven´t been able to figure out how to use the Single Image element and have an image keep it´s proportions _without_ adding a square-box-border around the whole image. Making it look extremely weird and with way to much padding on mobile units.

See this picture for reference: https://imgur.com/a/jkBLZ

The bottom image (1) is added using the Single Image element. Image Size is set to Contain. This adds a box of padding around the picture when it shrinks. The image shrinks correctly, but I can´t see any reason why it has to have so much padding on top and bottom.

The top image (2) is added through the normal editor using the Text With Title element. Here the picture scales perfect, without adding any additional borders.

I have now done some more extensive testing. The issue is never presented on android browsers, only iPhone.

I have verified the issue on two other iPhones that has never been connected to either my WiFi or been to the page it self.

It does not happen all the time. Far from it even. However it seems easier to replicate when I go to the homepage (https://www.baresolutions.se) and select the menu followed by “Behandlingar & Priser” then select “Ögonbryn & Fransar”.

I also created a live test page (called “test”). This can be found if you search for “test” using the built in search function on the page.

Accessing the ögonbryn… and test-pages directly seems to produce the issue very rarely, however accessing them through either the menu or search-function makes issue appear.

It also helps to close the current tab in between each try and also switch to private/incognito-mode between each try.

Sorry about being so persistent about this, but it is annoying the crap out of me that I can’t solve it :-/

That is so odd. See theese pictures for how it looks on my broswer (the top image is the aimage aligned center, the bottom one has alined none): https://imgur.com/a/nt7sN

When the images is aligned middle/center it doesn´t show up (it loads though, so as soon as I click the menu button the image shows up). Tested on an Android-phone now and there it seems to work. So far I have recreated the issue on iPhone SE and iPhone 6S (both in Safari and Chrome).

Can you find any errors in the code?
Could it somehow be some kind of old page cashe stuck in either the phones or the page itself? Have tried removing cashe in browsers, using only 4G instead of Wi-Fi and also used incognito-mode on both Safar and Chrome. But the issue is still present on the image that has the center alignment :-/

I have done some more testing with this and it seems to be an issue that occurs when an image is (1) centered and (2) added through tagdiv composer. The site has four pages for beauty-treatments, linked below:

https://www.baresolutions.se/vaxning/
https://www.baresolutions.se/laser-diod/
https://www.baresolutions.se/makeup/

The last one of theese (ogonbryn-fransar) has the image alignment set to center/middle using the normal text with title block. The other (first) three ones has the alignment set to “no alignment”. The issue described only happens on the last one (with the center alignment).

It seems this appear not only in Safari, but also in Chrome on mobile devices. I have only tested with iPhone so far though. Further more this doesn´t happen every time the page is loaded. Sometimes the picture loads fine, and sometimes it disappears only to be shown as soon as i double tap or bring out the page-menu.

Can you replicate the issue? I have tried clearing all cashe and tried with several different iphones. The issue is there on all of them.

MrOrsh

Well, after some forum searching it seemed that it was indeed a bug. And the solution was to update the theme. Now everything seems to be working 🙂

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Add to original post: It seems the stretching only occurs when an image has a caption. If I add a picture, center it, and do not use caption the issue does not occur. Is it a bug?

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Yeah, one shouldn´t mess with Googles rules 😛

However is it possible to maybe create a sidebar and add it by editing the php of the post (for example) template. So that it always displays before the regular sidebar?

MrOrsh
tagDiv Member

Hi, thats odd :-/ Guess there must be something wrong with my theme-install somehow then. Will try and install a fresh copy and reset theme settings and see if that does anything. Thanks for trying to replicate my issue at least 🙂

MrOrsh

When I use that code (from https://www.screencast.com/t/s4Eq4Jdfdr) the importing of the theme settings work fine.

However, if you try it like this:
1. Use the default theme and then install the Magazine-demo (without content).
2. Navigate to Theme Panel > Import/Export.
3. First of all the code in “EXPORT THEME SETTINGS” does not look the same as the code from the td_panel_settings.txt-file (which it teqnically should do).
4. Just as an example, navigate to Theme Colors and change the Top Bar Background color to yellow.
5. Save and go back to Theme Panel > Import/Export and copy the code under EXPORT THEME SETTINGS.
6. Now uninstall the Magazine-demo from Theme Panel > Install demos.
7. Finally navigate once more to Theme Panel > Import/Export and paste the copyed code.

This should now at least make the top-bar yellow. However it doesn´t. It seems the export-code under Theme Panel > Import/Export doesn´t take the demo-settings into account. All I´m getting if I´m doing it this way is the very first standard settings code that was enabled before installing the demo-theme.

Could it be a bug? I´m only looking for a safe way to back up my theme settings, that´s why I´m so annoying about this 🙂
