installing updated theme did not help me with the same problem.

I thought that child theme is causing this but activating parent Newspaper theme still show recent posts instead of category posts.

Finally managed to get to this.

It’s almost what I need, but I actually require to display only those custom posts, that have specific category I selected.
Just mirror “Featured” category as custom taxonomy for custom post type.

But, I have “Big Grid 8” in visual composer, but I can’t see that thing in /page/2.
Only in first page.

Also then first page has 7 posts visible, instead 6 that I set in options.
Second page has correct number of posts though.

Well, modifying theme files isn’t practical – all the changes will be overwritten on update.

So what I actually did:

I created new page, added top posts module with category filter, as you recommended.
Added posts module with acceptable layout.
Set this page as static main page.

Default homepage, when consisting of latest posts (as opposed to “static page”), has no page so I can’t edit it’s settings.

What other options can you suggest?
