Your solution was “too radical” 😉
The buttons I have in my post were enabaled as way using your solution.

I was able now to modified your solution to the following:

disable H1 link
.entry-title{ pointer-events:none; }

disable category tags
.entry-category{ pointer-events:none; }

Maybe this is of help for someone else.
