I did try all that …… several times but had nothing as a result. In the end, I posted the code into a “RAW HTML” module and it worked perfectly so all is good now.

This was where I started and I used code on top image at https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-using-other-ads/ ……

At first in preview it appeared but once I went to the live site is was gone ….. as it was in any subsequent preview.

I have header style 5, top bar layout style 1, all other top bar options OFF.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks but don’t believe there is anything in the documentation of any help here unless you know different. Appreciate you can stop anything with hard coded tweaks but I’d rather understand why Newsmag is doing what it is doing in the first place as I remain convinced it isn’t supposed to produce 22 image variations for every upload ….. that would kill most sites pretty quickly !

Thanks for coming back ………

I always thought that WordPress has to have some size variations produced in order to support thumbnails and pages that use smaller versions of your full size image. Are you sure about switching off the media size options because I’d need some convincing.

Do you have any NEWSMAG specific suggestions for settings changes relating to “modules/images” as I’m not sure what you are referring to.

The site is not live yet hence being in maintenance mode. I can provide you with admin access if I can contact you privately.

I don’t have any issues with thumbnails that I’m aware of. My problem is with the images in the single post placeholder.

Thanks Calin but how do I rectify my issue here ?

I have a large number of images, all of which are resized to 1000px wide for landscape orientation and 1000px high for portrait orientation. The other setting in both cases is variable.

The landscape orientation placeholder displays 1000px wide images perfectly for width but often crops out part of the height so is clearly trying to fit to a consistent height and they are not consistent height images.

The placeholder for portrait orientation images is all over the place and displays the image to the left and also crops out most of the height. It appears to be trying to force the portrait image into the placeholder set for landscape images.

I’m basically wanting the uploaded images to display in full, in the center and with no placeholder border showing.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure if the added code is changing this but whilst the placeholder is perfect width wise, it is cropping the vertical height. All of my images are 1000px wide but the heights are variable so can that be reflected in the code otherwise I’m cropping some of the images.

Sorry for the delay in replying Simon but pleased to report that your proposed solution worked perfectly. Thank you very much !

Yes, I can see what is happening and you are right in that it leaves a small space. All of my images are pre-prepared as a maximum 1000px height or width which, if I had known what was coming, I would have changed to a maximum of 1021px !

I’m using post template style 4.

SidCowans33

So I can’t actually fit a 1000px image on the post page perfectly as none of the placeholder options offer 1000px thus a small grey border will appear ?

Have just ran a new test and the Title URL field worked so no idea what went wrong before !!!

That’s not the site I’m working on by the way but thanks for your help on this one.

In your linked example, I want people to click “Hot Right Now” and get all the Hot Right Now posts that may not be appearing as you have limited the number displayed. When I try to do that, the Title URL refuses to hold on to URLs, allowing you to save the link but then clearing the link when you check back.

I have found this now. What I was seeing was a widget and can modify via the widgets section !

Sorted now. Template changes on the post page didn’t appear to be working but it was a cache issue ….. once cache is cleared, all was good !

I had the same issue and used the plugin QUICK FEATURED IMAGES PRO and it worked brilliantly. You need the PRO version which has a small fee but well worth it.

If you simply copy the images you have to “featured” then you end up with two identical images on the post page but this plugin gives the option to remove the image from the post content but keep it as “featured” and that works really well.

Ran it against 3,000 posts and it takes a time to set itself up (be patient – it will get there) but worked very well.

Just to add that I have tried changing the page template to default but it didn’t lose the “Latest Articles” loop. I really want to keep this template but just don’t want the loop.

Thank you – used FTP and all is good !
